What happens when oil, water, and


food coloring are placed together?
Thats what the
McNutt Family
Wants to
know !!

Hypothesis
We all know oil
floats on top of
water but what
happens to the
food coloring??

What Does Everyone


Think

Jennifer- it will lay


on top of the oil
Haylie- it will get
stuck in the oil
Rex it will lay just
beneath the oil but
on top of the water

Materials You Will Need


1 Glass Jar
1-2 Cups cold
water
3 Colors of Food
Coloring
Vegetable Oil
Enough to be 2
inches above your
water

Step 1
Add 1-2 cups of Cold water to your Jar

Step 2

Add enough Vegetable oil to


your jar to total 2 inches
above the water

Step
4 of
Add 2 drops
of each
your 3 selected colors of
food coloring

Step 5
Wait and see what happens!!!

The Results Are In
