FORCE

AND
MOTION
Roller Coasters- Force and Motion.mp4

Describe the motion of

an object by tracing
and measuring its
change in position
(distance travelled)
over a period of time

A.Engagement:
1. Motivation
. Motion Song / Dance
. Play a game of charade.
Pick a card, then act the word in
class. The group that answers as
many correct answer wins.

C. EXPLANATION:

Explain" Why do objects move?"

1. How do you compare the distance travelled by
the TISSUE BALL when you blew it with
varying
strength of forces?
2.Which degree of force applied made the TISSUE
BALL travelled the fastest from the starting
point?
3.What factors do you think affected the
movement of the TISSUE?
4. In which direction does it move?
*

D. Elaboration:
What is motion?
When an object
changes position over
time when compared
with a reference point
we say that the object
is in motion.

A force is simply a
push or a pull.
All forces have both
size and direction.

Balanced vs. unbalanced forces

Unbalanced: when the

net force on an object is
not zero. These produce
a change in motion.
Balanced: when the net
force on an object equals
zero. These do NOT
produce change in motion.

CENTRIPETAL AND CENTRIFUGAL FORCES

CENTRIPETAL FORCE
Centripetal force can be thought of as a
center seeking force.
Centripetal force is always directed
toward the center

CENTRIFUGAL FORCE
Just like we have an inward seeking force
with circular motion, we can also have
an outward seeking motion.
This outward seeking motion is called
Centrifugal force.

Velocity
The speed of an
object in a particular
direction
***Dont confuse this
with speedthey
dont mean the same

NEWTONS

MOTION

LAW

ST

INERTIA

An object at rest tends to stay at

rest and an object in motion
tends to stay in motion unless
acted upon by an unbalanced
force.

If more force is applied, an object

For every action, there is an equal

Forces occur only in pairs

Action and Reaction on Different Masses

Consider you and the earth
Action: earth pulls on you

Reaction: you pull on earth

Reaction: road pushes on tire

Action: tire pushes on road

Reaction: gases push on rocket

Action: rocket pushes on gases

that they can carry the box
easier? List down your
