ETHICS PERCEPTION AND

ORGANISATION

Engineering Technology is a profession, similar

to law, medicine, dentistry and pharmacy
Technologist are hired for their specialized
expertise.
Technologist must have ethical obligations to
the clients, because the client often cannot
assess the quality of the technologist technical
advice.
Obligations are part of engineering ethics, the
set of behavioral standards that all engineers
are expected to follow.

Ethic and Organization

Two approaches:
1. Descriptive -recording the ethical attitudes of
particular individuals or groups
2. Normative -investigating what peoples ethical
attitudes (and actions).
Ethical does not have a single uniform system or
standard of ethical conduct across the entire
profession.
Different perspectives, there is a coherent basis of
eternal values amongst various codes which could be
understood from the comparison of codes by societies
and technical societies.
In the ethics of interaction rules, we can be classified
as etiquette, law, morals and ethics.

Engineering ethics of
interaction rules

Law is asystemof rules, usually enforced through a set ofinstitutions

.
It shapespolitics, economicsandsocietyin numerous ways and
serves as a primary social mediator of relations between people.
Contract lawregulates everything from buying a bus ticket to trading
onmarkets.
Propertydefines rights and obligations related to the transfer and title
ofpersonal(often referred to as chattel) andreal property.
Trust lawapplies to assets held for investment and financial security,
while tortlaw allows claims for compensation if a person's rights or
property areharmed.
If the harm is criminalised in a statute, criminal lawoffers means by
which the state can prosecute the perpetrator. Constitutionalprovides
a framework for the creation of law, the protection of human rights
and the election of political representatives.
Administrative lawis used to review the decisions of government
agencies, whileinternational lawgoverns affairs between sovereign
nation statesin activities ranging fromtradeto environmental
regulation or military action.

Ethics

The study of the morality of human actions.

The science of determining values in human
conduct and of deciding what cought to be
done in different circumstances and situations.
Engineering ethics represents the attempts of
professional engineers to define proper
courses in their dealing with each other, with
their clients and employees and with the
general public.
The code of ethic consists of principles and
canons about the rules of professional
behavior for all specialties.

Organization

Is a social arrangement which pursues

collective goals, controls its own
performance, and has a boundary separating
it from its environment.
In the social sciences, organizations are
studied by researchers from several
disciplines, the most common of which are
sociology,economics,
political,psychology,management,
andorganizational communication.
The broad area is commonly referred to
asorganizational studies,organizational
behaviouror organization analysis.

theories and

organization
Process-related: an entity is being

(re-)organized (organization as task or

action).
Functional: organization as a function of
how entities like businesses or state
authorities are used (organization as a
permanent structure).
Institutional: an entity is an organization
(organization as an actual purposeful
structure within a social context)

Important Of Code of

Ethics

Dependence on the sound judgment

Integrity of the professional engineer.
Development of civilization
Conservation and management of natural resources
Improvement of the standards of living of mankind are
greatly affected by the work of the engineer.
Work to be fully effective
Strived constantly to widen knowledge
Improve skill
The community be willing to recognize the integrity
and trust the judgment of members of the profession
of engineering.

Why the engineering

technology profession must be
recognized in the community

Using technical expertise for enhancement of

human public safety, health and welfare.
- Health; effects users of buildings or sites and
address environmental issues.
- Safety: Aspects of engineering intended to limit or
prevent accidental injury or death users of
buildings or sites.
- Welfare: Aspects of engineering that engender
positive emotional responses or enable
equal
access by, users of building or sites.
Its loyalty to the community, to employers and
clients;
Its honesty and impartiality in professional practice.

Conts

Behave in an honorable and dignified manner.

Protect the environment.
Perform duties only in areas of competent.
Continue leaning to sharpen technical skills.
Be truthful and objective
Protect confidential information of employer or
client.
Do not accept bribes or gift that would interfere with
engineering judgment.
Avoid conflicts of interest.
Avoid injuring others, their property, reputation or
employment by false or malicious action.
Be involved with civic and community affairs.

Advantage of Code Of Ethics

Set out the ideals and responsibilities of the

profession
Exert a de facto regulatory effect,
protecting both clients and professionals.
Improve the profile of the profession
Motivate and inspire practitioners, by
attempting to define their reason.
Provide guidance on acceptable conduct
Raise awareness and consciousness of
issues.
Improve quality and consistency.

Disadvantage of Code Of Ethics

Standards are obligatory, or are

merely an aspiration.
A code is desirable or feasible.
Ethical values are universal or
culturally relativistic.
The difficulty of providing universal
guidance given the heterogeneous
nature of the profession
Specifying responsibilities, given the
limited regulatory function of a code.

Conclusion

Ethics perception and organization is related to

engineering professionalism or any other field.
Strong dependence of human development on
engineering field.
Ethical engineering has stimulated the interest in the
whole range of professionals.
The fundamentals of ethics has been made to
demonstrate engineering and codes of ethics can
hardly contribute anything.
Enforcement of ethics is neither possible nor should
be aimed are made results into engineered ethics.
Several cases shown that ethical engineering cannot
be thought of in isolation of human values in general
and universal societal values .
