Swarasa- Fresh Juice


Extraction of juice from herbs , which
are collected fresh is called swarasaA mechine , or teeth can be used.
Two type:- Agni Sidha, Anagni sidha
Agni Sidha(Puta Paka)- With help of
agni Vasa- Adathoda Vasica- 1/2
pala ie 25ml
Anagni Sidha- With out help of Agni
Dose- 1 pala 50ml

Kalka
When Wet drugs are taken and
crushed with a help of A motor and
pestle. With out adding water.
Dose is of 12 grm
Churna
Defined as Kalka with out water ,When
Drugs are dry getting Kalka is
difficult. So Drug is powdered and
filters through a cloth

Kwatha/Kashayam
That which is boiled is called
Kwatha/ Kashaya
Generaly Kashaya is made with
1 part of drug 16 part of water. And
reduced to 1/8 then should be
collected. It should be always taken
luke warm water.
It is also called Srita, Kwatha,
Kashaya, Niryuha

Water Quantity

Soft Drug 4 times water


Hard Drugs 8 times water
Medium Hardness -- 8 times
Extreme Hardness 16 times
and reduced to
Dose 50 ml

Sheeta/Hima
Cold infusions
One part of drug in 6 part of water
and kept over night and taken in the
morning after mixing properly.
This is also called as sheeta kashaya
As this process doesn't involve Heat
it preserves loss of Volatile principles
Dose- 100 ml

Phanta
One part of drug is taken and 4 part
of boiled water is added and closed
with a lid
When Luke warm its mixed well and
filtered and used
Dose 100ml

Paneeya Kalpana 1 part of drug and


64 part of water is taken and reduced
to 32 part
Ushnodaka- Boiled water and reduced

Mamsa rasam- meat Soup- along
with spices and salt
Ksheerapaka- Medicine boiled with
medicine
1 part of drug and 8 part of milk and 8
part of water and added reduced to
half

Yusha
When Cereals are boiled with water
and taken is called as yusha

Rasakriya/Avaleha
After Kwatha is prepared , after
removing the drug from it , if it is heated
further contents untill it forms a
semisolid consistency

Procedure followed as similar to
Avaleha, here Sugar, Gugulu or
Jaggery any one of these is boiled in

Lavana Kalpam
This is a preparation in powder form
Main ingredient is salt so it is called
Lavana kalapam
Medicines are taken in an mud
vessel along with salt after it is
closed properly then heat is given.
Dose to 2 gm

Kshara kalpana
Collection of Alkalain substances plants
Dried whole plant is taken and burnt to
complete ash. This Ash is collected and
dissolved in water. And mixed well.
Allowed to sediment after sedimentation
the water is filtered and taken
This water is taken and evaporated to
get Kshara a white slimy material
Eg ; apamarga (Achyranthes aspera)

Preparation of Ghee/ Oils


Mainly three ingredients ,
Oil/Ghee- fatty media -4 p
Drug- 1p
Liquid media -16 p

Paka of Sneha
The processing of fatty media is
having three different Paka(Stage of
cooking )
Mrudu - Kalka and oil get seprated
Madhyama The Kalka Makes a solid
mass like bee wax
Kharam- the kalka will become like
that of loose sand

Mridu- Nasyam
Madhyam- All Karma
Kharam - Abhyangam

Sandhana Kalpana
Process of fermentation brewing
The product is two type alcoholic &
acidic Fermentation
Asava and Arishta are alcoholic
fermentation
Acidic Fermentation it is called sukti
Vinegar is an example for acidic fermentation ,
Dhanyamla is a product of acidic fermentation
where in rice with husk is boiled and kept in a
closed container with Amla dravya

Prakshepaka Dravyas Dhataki , and other
