Mobile Phone

GSM Modem
Global system for mobiles(GSM) technology is used to

establish cellular connection.

It is used for transmitting

mobile voice and data services.

A wireless modem behaves like a dial-up modem.
The main difference between them is that a dial-up modem

sends and receives data through a fixed telephone line while a

wireless modem sends and receives data through radio waves.
9

GPS Module

current leading GPS technology and the integrated positioning chip

LEADTEK LR9548S.
A GPS framework computes its position

by accurately timing the signal sent

by GPS satellites high over the Earth.
GPS Receiver gets the location information from satellites

8051 Microcontroller
8051 chips are used in a wide variety of control systems, telecom

applications, robotics as well as in the automotive industry.

10

The 8051 architecture provides many functions such as central

processing unit (CPU), random access memory (RAM), read-only

memory (ROM),input/output(I/O), interrupt logic, timer, etc. in
one package.

DTMF tone decoder

The dial tone which comes out from the telephone set or mobile

phone is Dual Tone Multi-Frequency.

The name was given in light of the fact that the tone that we heard

via telephone is really making up of two different frequency tones,

subsequently the name dual tone.
11

The DTMF tone is a form of one way communication between the

dialer and the telephone exchange.

A complete system comprises of the tone generator and the tone

decoder.

Infrared sensors
It is an electronic sensor that measures infrared (IR) light radiating

from objects in its field of view.

Usually this radiation isn't visible to the human

eye because it radiates at infrared

wavelengths, but it can be detected
by electronic devices designed for such a purpose.
12

IC MT8870DE
This circuit detects the dial tone from a telephone line and decodes the

keypad pressed on the remote telephone.

we are use the IC MT8870DE, the main
component to decode the input dial tone
to 5 digital output.
These digital bits can be interface to a computer or microcontroller for
further application.

MEMS
MEMS(micro electro mechanical system)
is a technique of combining electrical and mechanical component

together on a chip.
The device typically converts measured mechanical signals into
electrical signals.

Working
The advance vehicle security system consist of GSM modem, GPS

module, 8051 microcontroller, infrared sensors, relay, paint spray

and high voltage mesh.
The main circuit is divided into two circuits one is for detecting the

motion of thief using infrared sensors and other is for DTMF tone
decoding for switching on/off the relay.
When thief tries to unlock the car, the infrared sensors placed near

the car door will sense the motion or movement and will sent the
signal to 8051 microcontroller.

17

Cont...
The microcontroller which is connected to triggering circuit

will send the triggering signal to relay.

The relay is connected to GSM mobile through earphone.
The microcontroller will send triggering signal three times to

GSM mobile and call will be made to user informing him or

her that someone is trying to unlock the vehicle.
The second part is for controlling or switching different

systems like engine ignition, fuel supply, electric shock mesh

and windscreen paint spray using relay.
18

Cont...
The relay is controlled using GSM mobile and DTMF tone

decoder.
DTMF tone detection and decoding is done by IC MT8870DE.
This IC MT8870DE recognizes the dial tone from a phone line and

decodes the tone pressed from the mobile keypad.

The dial tone which comes out from the telephone set or mobile

phone is Dual Tone Multi-Frequency.

19

Cont...
The DTMF tone is a form of one way communication

between the dialer and the telephone exchange.

Here we are utilizing the IC MT8870DE, the principle part to

decode the input dial tone to 5 digital outputs.

These output bits can be interfaced to a PC or micro-

controller for further application.

For each keypad number pressed there is particular range of

frequency which will be decoded by DTMF decoder circuit.

20

Cont...
Depending upon the system like ignition cut-off, fuel supply

cut-off, windscreen paint spray and electric shock mesh, the

number of relays controlling them will be added.
Here we are using four relays. The microcontroller is

programmed in such a way that each keypad number will be

controlling relay which will further control these systems.
The owner will send the DTMF tone to the GSM mobile placed

in the car.
The DTMF tone will be decoded using IC MT8870DE which

will be controlling relays to activate security system.

B. Vehicle Tracking & Accident Notification

A GPS framework computes its position by accurately timing the

signal sent by GPS satellites high over the Earth.

The GPS framework or receiver uses the messages it gets to calculate

the transit time of every message and computes the separation to every
satellite utilizing the velocity of light.
24

Block diagram of GPS tracking system

25

Cont...
These separations and satellites locations are utilized to compute the

location of the receiver utilizing the navigation mathematical statements.

This location is then displayed using online web application through

Google maps or through offline tracking using GSM.

Four or more satellites must be visible to acquire an exact result.
The recorded area information can be stored within the tracking

framework.
This permits the asset's location to be shown against a map backdrop

either in real time or when analysing the track later, using GPS tracking
software.
26

Cont...

Online tracking of vehicle using web application.

Offline tracking of vehicle using GSM.

27

Cont...
In offline tracking GPS receiver after receiving the signal from

satellites calculates the position of vehicle and converts it in the form

of latitude, longitude and altitude and speed information.
In case of Accident GSM modem or mobile will send the help

message to the family member and to others whose numbers are

registered.
Through web application the client can likewise produce history

report of the vehicle.

The history report of vehicle comprises of separation secured, vehicle

status (ignition on/off), fuel status, velocity report, temperature report

and AC on/off report.
28

Cont...
MSG System when accident
occur

Generate history
report of vehicle.

29

Cont...
Working of Accident Notification
Whenever accident occurs MEMS sensor detect and sends

electrical signal to the microcontroller.

By using GPS , we get particular location where accident occurs.
The GPS positioning is done in the form of latitude and longitude

along with the exact location of the place with the exact location
of the place by making Google maps .
Using various sensors are placed which indicates occurrence of an

accident just like gas sensor, alcohol detector, accelerometer.

30

Cont...
If range of that sensor increases beyond specific range then

buzzer will on for one minute .

Driver cant stop the buzzer within one minute then it will

detect as a accident .
Then a message will send to owner, police station & two

previously stored numbers with co-ordinates of that location.

6. Advantages
To take immediate action when an burglary occurs by alerting

the respective people by sending respective people by sending

message.
The immediate medication will be provided to the accident

victims in the remote areas .

Mobile number can be changed at any time
The proposed work is cost-effective, reliable and has the

function of preventing theft and providing accurate tracking

system.
34

7. Disadvantages
In some places where there is no provision of GSM networks

it is difficult for communication.

If the hardware destroy when the accident occur ,the

communication is difficult.

35

8. Application and Future scope

This system can be interfaced with Vehicle Airbag System.
This can also be developed by interconnecting a camera to the

controller module that takes the photograph of the accident spot

that makes tracking easier.
Can also be used for Child or animal tracking.
