Ephesians 5:

 15 Be very careful, then, how you

live — not as unwise but as wise,
16 making the most of every
opportunity, because the days are
evil.
 17 Therefore do not be foolish,
but understand what the Lord’s
will is. 18 Do not get drunk on
wine, which leads to debauchery.
Instead, be filled with the Spirit.
 Lifeis made up of moments or
opportunities.
 These moments can either make
you or break you.
 There are so many chances and
good opportunities that we allow
to pass us by.
 How many dreams have never
been achieved?
 How many companies have never
been started?
 How many books have never been
written?
 How many phone calls have never
been made?
 How many compliments have been
left unsaid?
 How many “I’m sorry” remain
unspoken?
 How many “Thank you” have never
been said?
 How many “I love you” are still
unexpressed?
Seizing the moment defined:
 To Seize – To grasp suddenly and
forcibly…
 A Moment – is an opportunity…a
favorable or advantageous chance
(Divine).
 Seizing the moment – is grasping
suddenly the favorable divine chance
How to Seize the
Moment
1. Find Your Purpose
 Purpose - The reason for which
something exists or is made…
 If you know your purpose you’ll know
which moments to seize and which to
let-go
 Be very careful, then, how you live —
not as unwise but as wise. V:15
2. Be Cautious
 To be cautious means “to be
prudently (wise) watchful in the
face of danger or risk”
 “…The act of surveying all possible
consequences before taking any
action” (Webster)
 V:15 Be very careful, then, how you
live…
We don't sacrifice quality for quantity.
3. Redeem the times
 To "redeem the time" means to “make
the most of our time”, to “buy up” and to
use it well.
 V:16 making the most of every
opportunity, because the days are evil.
 The ancient Greeks had two words for
time, chronos and kairos.
 Chronos deals with quantitative time.
It is clock and calendar oriented...
It is Measurable… It is the time we
humans understand intellectually.
 E.g. If you miss this season…you can
wait for another season.
 Kairos deals with opportune time,
divine moment.
- The right activity happening at the right
moment.
- When circumstances of life come
together.
- When the right events have taken place
and people are ready.
- When things line up in a way that the
right result can happen.
4. Give in to God’s will
 Give in to God’s will… is doing that which
pleases God.
 V:17 Therefore do not be foolish, but
understand what the Lord’s will is.
 Rom 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the
pattern of this world, but be transformed by
the renewing of your mind. Then you will be
able to test and approve what God’s will is —
His good, pleasing and perfect will.
5. Live a spirit filled life
 Spirit filled life – Being total trusting
His Word and surrendering to His
Spirit for guidance.
 V:18 Do not get drunk on wine…
Instead, be filled with the Spirit…
OPPORTUNITIES MISSED

 There was a very cautious man

Who never laughed or played
He never risked, he never tried
He never sang or prayed
And he one day passed away
His insurance was denied
For since he never really lived
They claimed he never died.
 Ifyou are still talking about what
you did yesterday, you haven't
done much today. Anonymous
