Use a Comma to Separate Items in a Series
"It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have three unspeakably precious
things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to
practice either of them.

A mark ofpunctuation(), technically
known as anem dash, used to set off a
word or phrase after anindependent
clauseor to set off words, phrases, or
clauses that interrupt a sentence.
(!)Don't confuse the dash () with
thehyphen(-).
Hyphen
A short horizontal mark ofpunctuation( - )
used between the parts of
acompoundword or name or between
thesyllablesof a word when divided at
the end of a line.
(!)Don't confuse the hyphen (-) with
thedash().
