WHAT IS EOH&S ?
The part of Overall Management System that includes
organizational structure, practices, procedures, processes
and resources for developing, implementing, achieving,
reviewing & monitoring the Environmental policy.

Why EOH&S ?
Indian Perspective:
Benefits to organization :
Principles of EOH&S :

MODULES OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

ISO STANDARDS

ISO 14001 :This International Standard specifies

requirements for an environmental management system to
enable an organization to develop and implement a policy and
objectives which take into account legal requirements and
other requirements to which the organization subscribes, and
information about significant environmental aspects. It applies
to those environmental aspects that the organization identifies
as those which it can control and those which it can influence.
It does not itself state specific environmental performance
criteria.

ISO 18001 :-

Originally developed in early 1990's as BS8800.

Revised in 1999 by SSI to be more compatible with ISO

14001.

Framework for an effective OH&S-MS.

17 elements designed in parallel to ISO 14001.

Allows third-party certification/registration.

Need of EOH&S system :-

Ozone depletion.

Global warming.

Acid rain.

Ecological disturbances.

Depletion of natural resources.

International demand :-

Now a days its necessity to handle the environment pollution free, so

being an engineer it is also necessary to accept all conditions which
are bounded to EOH&S concept without any hesitation.

EOH&S is an international format in industrial zones.

5.1) Why EOH&S International perspective? :-

EOH&S is universal format.

It helps to optimize the pollution.

Quality policy based on EOH&S.

Also helps to prevent the accidents in industries.

HOW TO IMPLEMENT IN
COMPANY?
Structure and responsibilities.
Training awareness and competence.
Consultation and communication.
Documentation.
Operational control.
Emergency preparedness and response.
Checking & Corrective Action.
Performance Measurement & Monitoring.
Quantitative & Qualitative Measures.
Proactive & Reactive Measures.

(HIRA. ASPECT/IMPACT) :

8.1) What is Aspect/Impact?

8.2) WHAT IS HIRA (HAZARD

IDENTIFICATION, RISK ASSESSMENT &
RISK CONTROL) ?

Purpose:
Procedure:
Considerations while identification of hazards:
Methodology:
Classification of work activities:
Hazards that can exist during day-to-day
activities:

CASE STUDY

CONCLUSIONS :

Analysis based on the environmental assumptions

showed that the EOH&S has potential for achieving
"Green Environment".
A new approach to EOH&S has been devised to
eliminate environmental as well as health safety
aspects. On the other hand, EOH&S audit is
applicable to all industries. Some problems i.e.
related to environment were encountered in
subscale testing, indicating that more detailed
environmental protection was warranted. The
environmental protection has been done in order to
reduce the scale of pollution as well as industrial
hazards.
