Company has followed ISO 9001
standard.
No use of proper PPE at site. Teams are
using only tide on belt for W@H.
Workers doesnt know the value of there
life and how important to their family's.
No proper Team compositions at site.
Workers not aware of W@H and
electrical risks involved in telecom sites.
Drivers not following safety cautions
while driving to the site

2.Introduction
Company has introduce the EHS to all workers after
Huawei has implemented in telecom sector.
Introduced new complete PPEs and demonstrated how
to use it in day to day work.
Conducted on site training/induction for W@H/Electrical
awareness and first aid.
Conducted special training for site supervisors regarding
EHS procedures which has to comply at site delivery.

2.Current status
Company has recruited EHS engineers, QC supervisor & coordinators.
Currently teams are following EHS up to a acceptable margin.
Team composition has been changed 70% according to standard.
Most of the Riggers are using full body harness for W@H.
Most of the teams has electrical certified person & First Aider.
Teams are well aware of emergency procedures to take place @ site on any
accident.
Before every task or activity there will be a tool box meeting within the
team.
Currently company has conducting rigger certification program for
employers.
Above all, workers started to sense the value of individual life.

Company has started TSDC
(Telecom skill development
center) under registration

4.Difficulties observed during implementation


among workers and how overcomes
Workers were not aware of EHS.
Riggers used for free climbing.
As per workers Working with PPE is a obstacle to them.
They refused to use as complying EHS is time consuming for them.
From the financial prospective EHS Tools are very expensive and in
sri lanka very rare as well as price tag very high.
Because of the employer turn over in telecom sector its costly to
provide every new comer with complete PPE.
Organizing training sessions will be costly as we have to hire
industry safety professionals.

Conducted regular training

rewarding system for zero
violation workers.

Regular site audit programs for every region.
QC inspector to audit site quality and material
movement.
All activities monitored 24*7 remotely.
Each team has get site entry approval by sending EHS
photos before any task.
EHS coordinator has to fill the daily check list along
with EHS report to submit top management.

6.Penalty and appreciations


EHS supervisor will note the violations During the site
inspection.
Penalty scheme as below
1st violation on site warning
2nd violation warning letter to be issued with salary deduction
3rd violation termination from the company

Every zero violation teams will rewarded.


Best employer award will be given annually to the
worker who has achieved lesser violations throughout
the project.

7.Improvements ,future work plan


Percentage of site accident is low
compare to last year.
Sites are neat and clean during the
activity and after completion.
Most sites are delivered on time.
Workers are started to feel
comfortable working with PPEs.

Plan to conduct every worker with
safety induction.
Provide Every worker with safety ID
once they completed the EHS
program.
Provide EHS Pre Task Tool box check
list for teams to make sure
everyone has their own PPEs ready
before commencing site activity.
