VOCABULARY TEST
The purpose of vocabulary test is to measure
the comprehension and production of words
used in speaking and writing.
4 general kinds of vocabulary test :
1. Limited response, is for beginners.
2. Multiple-choice completion
3. Multiple-choice paraphrase
4. Kind of text simple comoletion (words)

LIMITED RESPONSE
in testing children and beginning level adult,
we often used directed physical responses and
visuals.
Individual testing : directed physical
responses can easily be used when you test
one student at a time.
Group testing : you can use nonverbal
physical responses as well to test the whole
class at the same time.

MULTIPLE-CHOICE COMPLETION
The following steps should be taken in writing
multiple-choice completion items :
Select the words to be tested
Get the right kind of sentence to put each
word in (this sentence context is called the
stem)
Choose to several wrong words to put the
right word
Prepare clear and simple instruction

Distractor Preparation

There are two common ways to choose


distractors. Teachers who create their own
distractors should follow certain guidelines :
Make sure the distractors are the same form
of word as they correct answer
Also be sure you dont give away the right
answer through grammatical cues
Multiple-choice items for any one question
should be the same level
Also be sure not to include more than one
correct answer

items offer much of the same advantage that
multiple-choice completion test doand the
context are much easier to prepare

In writing paraphrase items, we follow the
same steps :
1. Select the words to be tested
2. Prepare a sentence context
3. Choose the distractors
4. Write instruction
