Chips Ahoy vs.

Great Value
PARKER BROHL
MFET 3810

Introduction

This project will show the difference between Chips Ahoy! and
the Great Value brand of soft chewy chocolate chip cookies.

The information that was gathered and will be used to compare

the two is the amount of chocolate chips in each cookie.

The combination of chocolate chips and taste will determine what

cookies is the best.

Data Collection

The data was collected by tearing apart each cookie in two

packages of Chewy Chips Ahoy! and Great Value Chewy.

There are 24 in each package and there are 4 packages. Two of

each. So 48 samples were taken from each brand and 96 total.

The weight of each cookie was weighed then torn apart to count
each chocolate chip.

To verify accuracy the cookie was completely torn apart onto a

plate then counted 2 times.

Methodology

The hypothesis testing I will use is the 2 Sample T test and 2

sample variance test because I am comparing 2 different
samples.

For the Control chart I will be using the I-MR chart

And for the Process Capability I will examine the probability

graphs and process capability.

Conclusion

The data that was gathered is normal for both the chips ahoy and the
great value.

The 2 Sample T test and 2 sample variance test show that the difference
between the two are small by about 1.5 chocolate chips on average.

The control charts showed that the two are both out of control with the
sample size chosen.

With the spec limits I set up of the target being 25 and the Upper limit
27 and the lower limit 23 the process is out of control.

More samples should be taken to get better results and if I open up my

spec limits the data should show more control and capability for both.

In conclusion the chocolate chips are almost the same amount in both
brands, but the taste test goes to chips ahoy!.
