Core Values & Ethics

Through proper training child advocacy hopes to help one
recognize the signs & potential indicators of abuse & neglect.
They also hope to help one recognize how & when to report
suspected abuse & neglect.
Trainings offered include: Darkness to Light, Parenting Matters,
Child Abuse & Neglect.

Services
Parenting Matters- Parenting classes
offered to anyone. Consist of 8 sessions
offered to a group or individual.

History
Started 8 years ago.
Child Advocacy is a neutral unit that provides family support and
services to different agencies in the community that support families.
(daycares)
Before 2016 Child Advocacy unit was funded by Partners for Children
through a temporary grant but is now funded by DSS.

Future of Child Advocacy

Supervisor Juaconda McMillan explained, that in the future they
hope to have there own child advocacy center, to be able to
serve the children and families of Robeson County.
A child advocacy center would allow social workers to facilitate
investigations medical exams and other important work, that
will help with the prosecution of child abuse and neglect and
help all parties involved.
