Introduction
Automation technology : use of methods, strategies, processes and
installations (hardware and software) as well as of
aids that are capable of fulfilling defined objectives
in a largely independent manner (i.e.
automatically) without the constant interference of
man
Such objectives include:
Improvement of product quality.
Increase of productivity.
Enhancement of reliability and safety.
Improvement of the use of existing resources.
Conservation of the environment.
Bottle Washer
The task of the machine is clean the bottles
introduced into the machine fully automatically.
The main components of the machine are :
The infeed zone with the bump-infeed and
infeed,
The pre-treatment zone
The main treatment zone and
the post-treatment zone with the discharge
zone.
Bottle Washer
At the bump-infeed unit the containers are
distributed into lanes and pushed into the bottle
carriers via the infeed system.
In the pre-treatment zones, the bottles are
gradually warmed (30-40 C)and cleaned; coarse
dirt particles are removed.
In the main treatment zone the bottles are treated
in dependence upon the materials of which they
are made ( glass) by temperature (approx.
Z1=75,Z2=90 , Z3=85 C) and chemicals (NaOH,
approx. 1 - 3.5 %, and additives).

Bottle Washer
The bottles are thereby rendered biologically
"clean" and they are also freed of adhering
contamination such as labels.
Cleaning is effected in one or more soak tanks with
various circulation loops, according to the machine
requirements and performance.
In the post-treatment zone the containers are
cooled off in different stages and thereby rinsed
free of chemicals (final spraying is always
conducted with freshwater).
They are subsequently taken over by the bottle
carriers via the discharge system and transferred
to a conveyor for further processing.

EBI
The filling and packaging process for beverages is
monitored by appropriate inspectors at several
positions in a line.
The aim here is to reject faulty bottles and to check
on the filled containers. This is of crucial importance,
not least
for reasons of product liability, plus of course checks
are also necessary for the optimum visual
appearance of the products concerned on the
supermarket shelves.
The machines that can be used for this purpose can
be directly integrated into a transport line as in - line
models, installed at the requisite positions as flexible
Base Inspection
Base Inspection
The container base is optimally illuminated by
projecting light through it.
The sensor in the CCD camera creates a digitized
image of the container the image data is loaded
directly to the CPU storage and processed in real
time.
Neck Inspection
Filler
In the beverage industry, rotary fillers are
the usual choice, able to handle up to
84,000 bottles an hour.
This kind of filler speed will of course
always be directly dependent on the size
and shape of the containers being handled,
and on the nature and composition of the
product being bottled
Filler
Assessment of a filler will be based on the
features specific to the particular type of
filler involved. These relate to:
Actuation of the filling valves.
