AWARDS
MY SPECIAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE
ORGANIZATION

I was joined as a trainee for electrical Panel

board division and Industrial solution division of
Rotax (Pvt) Ltd.-Colombo.

I gave my maximum contribution as trainee to

both division of the organization.
SELF
EVALUATION
During my training period of Rotax (Pvt) Ltd, I could

Improve the knowledge in electrical panel board

accessories, wiring of panel boards, electrical installation

practise, Surge protection, VFD wiring & programming

and lot more.

SURGE PROTECTION DEVICE(SPD)

The Surge Protection Device (SPD) is a component of the

electrical installation protection system.

The surge Protection provides protection against indirect effect

of lightning, switching or power frequency surges.

The three types of SPD:

Type 1 SPD

Type 2 SPD

Type 3 SPD
SPD PANEL BOARD
This device is connected in parallel on the power supply
circuit of the loads that it has to protect.

CITEL brand is employed for surge protection device In

Rotax LTD.

CITEL has developed a patented technology which

combines a high energy varistor (MOV) network and a
specific gas tube.
DISRIBUTION PANEL BOARD

Adistributionboard is a component of an electricity supply system

that divides an electrical power feed into subsidiary circuits, while
providing a protective fuse or circuit breaker for each circuit in a
common enclosure.
DOL STARTER-PANEL BOARD
The simplest form of motor starter for the induction motor is
theDirectOnLine starter.
The DOL starter consist a MCCB or Circuit Breaker, Contactor and
an overload relay for protection.
Electromagnetic contactor which can be opened by the thermal
overload relay under fault conditions.
.
STAR-DELTA STARTER PANEL
BOARD
When very large motors are started that way, they cause a
disturbance of voltage on the supply lines due to large starting
current surges.

To limit the starting current surge, large induction motors are

started at reduced voltage and then have full supply voltage
reconnected when they run up to near rotated speed.
VFD
VFD converts a basic fixed frequency, fixed voltage to a
variable frequency, variable output voltage used to control
speed of induction motor.

Advantages;

Increased Reliability
Speed Variations
Soft Starting
Extended Machine Life and Less Maintenance

CABLES RATINGS

When Select a correct wire,

should be considered the below
facts.

1. The method of laid (through

PVC conduit or cable trench etc.)
2. Current capacity which goes
through the wire
3. Length of the wire
4. Voltage drop of the wire

CABLE JOINT
Cable joints can be divided in to another tree parts i.e. LT cable
joints , HT cable joint, End terminations .
LV cable joints

The straight cable joints are used, when we need a cable longer
than its present length for a construction work.

T- Joints are used for to get another supply line from the
present supply line.
When we doing a cable joint we want to joint three phases and
the neutral correctly.
Technical requirement of amour is continued by using earth
tape.
Exothermic Welding
Exothermic welding process is a molecular chemical reaction
between copper oxide and aluminum generates a
tremendous superheat with molten metals reaching
approximately temperature of 2600 C.
Exothermic Welding
Connections are the weak point of all electrical circuits
and especially earthing circuits subjected to aging and
corrosion. The capacity of an earthing circuit to protect
the safety of personnel depends on the quality of the
connections made.

The mechanical connection presents a significant

difference between the apparent contact
surface
and the actual surface

The CADWELD bonded

connection provides
conductivity over the whole of
the section due to molecular
bonding between the metal
surfaces.
