CMS Overview
The core network maintenance solution (CMS) helps to implement the customer support service delivery
of the core network (CN). It improves the maintenance efficiency.

The CMS includes:


Maintenance tools desktop: Integrates maintenance tools of various CN products and manages the
tool installation, operating, upgrade, and uninstallation.
Maintenance documentation: Includes the CN maintenance standard operation procedure (SOP) and
related maintenance documents and software.

Network Information Collection
After the
optimization

After the CMS is adopted, massive CN collection scenarios are optimized to the following four
collection scenarios:
Accident analysis scenario: Supports quick fault feedback, analysis, and rectification. Information collected in this scenario
can be used to rectify 80% faults and locate 30% faults.
Offline health check scenario: Provides data for offline health check.. Information collected in this scenario can be used
for health check in various scenarios.
Common fault analysis scenario: Provides default information required for troubleshooting. Information collected in this
scenario can be used to locate 50% faults.
Extended information for fault analysis scenario: Provides supplementary information for troubleshooting. Information
collected in this scenario and that in the common fault analysis scenario can be used to locate 80% faults.

For the information collection, it is advised to adopt the policy More Information Collected Once, Multiple Feedbacks on
Demand.
1.When detecting a fault, use the information collection tool to collect information in the common fault analysis scenario and
extended information for fault analysis scenario.
2.When submitting a problem ticket, provide only information collected from the common fault analysis scenario. The

NE Health Check

After the

After the CMS is adopted, massive CN check scenarios are optimized to the following four
check scenarios:
Inspection scenario: Supports the preventive maintenance for the delivery of the customer support
service.
Deployment and cutover scenario: Checks the device deployment and cutover.
Equipment status check scenario: Ensures that the equipment is operating properly. It is advised to
perform this check before and after major operations.
Prewarning and rectification check scenario: Checks prewarning and rectification items.

Provide reports in HTML or word format.
Provide the analysis, impacts, and handling suggestions on detected faults.

The tools software management function manages the download, installation, upgrade, uninstallation,
and operating of the VTS console, various NE mediation packages for the VTS, and common
maintenance tools.

Maintenance Tools Desktop Deployment
When installing the maintenance tools
desktop on a China-domain computer, you
can use all functions of this tool. However,
when installing it on a non-China-domain
computer, you can use only two functions
(information collection and device status
check).

When installing the maintenance tools


desktop on the customer's maintenance
network:
Upgrade the network management tool or
install a patch on it based on the network
management policies.
Use the latest VTS when the network
management tool cannot be upgraded.

Before installing the maintenance


tools desktop on a GTS's computer,
uninstall the existing VTS. The
maintenance tool kit can be
automatically upgraded after being
installed.

After deploying the maintenance tools desktop, you can use the tool software management function on the VTS platform
to provide common maintenance tools (such as the MAINEX and KPI analysis tool) for frontline engineers to manage
tool installation, uninstallation, update, upgrade, and application.

Maintenance Documentation Overview
The maintenance documentation includes the CN maintenance SOP and the
maintenance documents supporting the maintenance SOP.
The maintenance SOP helps maintenance engineers properly maintain the
network, and detect and address potential network problems, ensuring the network
security and stability.
The maintenance SOP supports the MSOFTX3000, CSOFTX3000, UMG8900,
iGWB, MBB, CG9812, HLR, IMS, NGN, and signaling products.
The maintenance documentation includes Unified Maintenance Manual,
Emergency Plan, High Risk Alarm Handling Guide and High Risk Operation Guide,
and Inspection Guide. You can read or download a maintenance document by
clicking the hyperlink on the support website.
You need to use HedEx Lite to read a maintenance SOP document in a HedEx
package.
HedEx Lite is the latest product documentation management system released by
Huawei. HedEx Lite is installation-free and lightweight, and provides the global search
feature.

Uploading or Obtaining the Maintenance SOP
You can upload the maintenance SOP by performing the following steps:
1. On the home page of HedEx Lite, choose Upgrade Library > Upgrade Library > Online Query.
2. In the Online query-Create Upgrade Task area, type CMS for Product name and click Submit.
3. Selected the required documentation and click Upgrade Now.

You can obtain the latest maintenance SOP quickly, as HedEx Lite checks for the latest version of the
maintenance SOP on the support website every 48 hours and notifies you if the latest version is
available.

Version Planning

CMCV100R001C00: Released on September 6, 2011. It improves maintenance


efficiency and supports the delivery of the customer support service for the CS-domain
devices. It improves maintenance efficiency. One patch version for CMCV100R001C00
is released by the end of each month from September to December in 2011.
CMCV100R001C01: Released on January 10, 2012. It supports the delivery of the
customer support service for the PS-domain, IMS, and USC devices.

Feedback Channel
Requirement Feedback Channel
For any requirement in maintenance tools and documents, submit a request management (RM) workflow
by choosing Core Net > OSS AND SERVICE > CN Maintenance Solution RAT.
Problem Feedback Channel
For maintenance tool problems detected outside China, submit iCare problem tickets with the
product type set to Core Network OSS&Service to the xx GTAC-Core Network-OSS&Service-
PSE group. The maintenance tool problems detected in China need to be submitted to the
product group because China tool group has not been established.
For maintenance document problems, submit iCare problem tickets to the xx GTAC-Core
Network-OSS&Service-PSE group.
