parties. The overall style

between the parties concerned.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A BUSINESS LETTER
A business letter has a conversational but polite
language and tone. The impression the letter makes on
the reader may dictate the nature of his or her
response. Being able to write an effective business letter
is valuable skill that is useful in school and through out
your life. People usually write business letter to apply for
jobs, complain about something, order items, request
help or information, and express opinions.
Use single space in writing your letter and use only
one side of a page.. It is also important that you observe
correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
PART OF
BUSINESS
LETTER
HEADING
-the heading
includes the
senders
complete
address and the
date.
INSIDE ADDRESS
-it is the
complete
name and
address of the
recipient.
SALUTATION
-it starts with the
word Dear and is
followed by the
recipients title with the
surname

e.g. Mr. Leong, Dr.


Amarles, Prof. Monicio.
BODY
-prioritize the
most important
information. Be
simple and clear
about the purpose
of your letter.
CLOSING
-this precedes the formal
identification of the sender. The
following are conventional
closings you can choose from:
Very truly yours, Respectfully,
Sincerely yours, or Best
regards. Follow the phrase with
a comma then write or type
your name at least four spaces
below the closing to allow room
for your signature.
STYLE OF BUSINESS LETTER
There are a number of acceptable business
letter styles available for use in the professional world.
But the most frequently used styles are the block style
and modified block style. All parts of the letter are
aligned with the left margin, and paragraphs are
separated with a line space.

MODIFIED BLOCK STYLE
The date and the closing are indented in this letter style. The return
address and the body photographs are also indented, and no extra space is
used between paragraphs.. A subject line may also be included.
