Case 1

A male new born infant was

referred to a pediatrician
because of the blue color of his
skin (cyanosis). An ultra sound
examination was ordered to
confirm the diagnosis of
Tetralogy of Fallot
questions

In the tetralogy of Fallot there

are four cardiac abnormalities.
What are they?
Why cyanosis can be occurred ?
Case 2

a female infant was born

normally. A radiograph of the
infants chest at 3 weeks
showed generalized cardiac
enlargement. The diagnosis is
PDA.
Case 3

During an autopsy on a 72-year-

old man who had died following
chronic heart failure, it was
observed that his heart was
very large and that the
pulmonary artery and its main
branches were delated. Opening
the heart revealed a very large
Atrial Septal Defect.
Questions

1. What is ASD?
2. where would the defect likely
be located?
3. Explain why the pulmonary
artery and its branches were
delated
Question

What is PDA
Why the enlargement of the
heart can be occurred?
