THE AUCTION GAME

GET READY FOR THE FUN AND BUY AS MANY


CORRECT SENTENCES AS YOU CAN!
THE AIM OF THE GAME IS TO BUY AS MANY CORRECT SENTENCES AS POSSIBLE

Each group will have $1200 to spend


Bids begin at $100
Bids increase by $100 each bid
The sentence will be sold to the highest bidder
(remember? "$400 going once, $400 going twice,
$400 sold to group X!")
Procedure

1. Put the students into pairs or small groups and give


each pair a sheet of sentences and their money limit.
2. Plan which sentences you are going to bid for.
3. THE AUCTION STARTS
4. After all the sentences are sold, run through and get
a class vote on which sentences are correct. Confirm
the answers.
5. Add up your money. Who has lost money on
incorrect sentences?
6. Ask pairs to decide why the sentences are not
correct.
