What is waste management?

Waste management is the precise name for

the collection, transportation, disposal or
recycling and monitoring of waste. This term
is assigned to the material, waste material
that is produced through human being
activity.

Sanitary Landfill

These composting centers are located in

Barangays T. Padilla, Kamagayan, Capitol Site, Luz
and Cogon Pardo

Barangay are also required to prepare a waste

diversion program that will reduce garbage at
source by composting biodegradable waste and
recycling non-biodegradable waste

The causes of waste management are

mainly due to environmental issues.
Due to lack of space, increase in hygiene
levels, advancement in science and
technology, pollution and global warming,
people have started waste management
to conserve the Earth and make full
use of things that are thrown away

management is to minimize the
adverse effects on the environment.

Collection of solid wastes

Collection of waste includes gathering

the waste, transporting it to a
centralized location, and then moving it
to the site of disposal.

Before the final disposal of the solid
wastes, it is processed to recover the
usable resources and to improve the
efficiency of the solid waste disposal
system. The main processing
technologies are compaction,
incineration, and manual
separation.

A Proposed Biogas Plant

Biogas typically refers to a mixture of different
gases produced by the breakdown of organic
matter in the absence of oxygen.

Biogas can be produced from raw materials

such as agricultural waste, manure, municipal
waste, plant material, sewage, green waste or
food waste. Biogas is a renewable energy source
and in many cases exerts a very small carbon
footprint.

Biogas can be produced by anaerobic digestion
with anaerobic organisms, which digest material
inside a closed system, or fermentation of
biodegradable materials.

This is how the waste-to-energy
process works:
After recyclable content has been removed, the
garbage is placed in incinerators that produce heat
or energy, which is then transported to nearby
homes.

From the ashes, small pieces of metal, which do not
burn, are separated and recycled, while those of
porcelain and tile are sifted to extract gravel, which is
used in road construction.

The remaining one percent goes into landfills. And
though garbage-infused smoke sounds highly
poisonous, thanks to electric filters that give the
particles a negative electric charge, in Sweden the
smoke is almost entirely nontoxic carbon dioxide and
water, which are cleaned again before release.
