3.Structure of the Vehicle
EQ1141KJ ,

The vehicle is made on the basis of EQ1141KJ and is
composed of crew's cab and compartment. The
compartment is composed of pump room, water pump
system, concealed liquid tank, equipment box, water
cannon, auxiliary equipment (cooling system, electric
system) and other fire fighting tools. There are also
alarming lamps and electronic alarming on the vehicle in
order to highlight fire fighting tasks .

Crews cab is remade from EQ1141KJ chassis with twin-row seats , and
it can be dumped for the convenience of engine maintenance. Besides
the original devices and electric meters, there are also switch of the
pump, width indication lamp switch, vacuum meter of water pump, rear
pneumatic inlet valve switch, electronic siren, etc. Equipment
compartment in the rear and pump room in the front are united.



There is pillow-type alarming lamp on the top of the cab; Headlamp at
the rear part of the compartment. A water cannon and aluminous alloy
handrail are respectively set on the top and rage of the compartment;
On both sides of the compartment, there are equipment boxes with
aluminous roller shutter ; in the middle of the compartment there is a
concealed water tank.

There are two rows of seats in the cab which can carry 6
persons (including the driver). The vehicle is equipped
with air conditioners to adjust the temperature in the cab.
Besides original electric switches and meters, there are
also low & medium pressure gauges which indicate the
outlet pressure of fire fighting pump, vacuum meter,
width indication switch, PTO indicator lamp, operation
switch of water pump, etc. for operation.

Operation of Pump

Pump system is the key part of the fire vehicle to put out fire. It
includes CB20.10/20.40 fire fighting pump, inlet and outlet pipes,
operation system, full-power PTO and gearings, etc. PTO is
installed between clutch and gearbox. For the convenience of
operation, its button is installed on the display panel in the cab .
When using water pump, press Main Air Supply Switch and then
press Combined Pump Switch , then the pump starts working.
When you need to shudown the pump, press Combined Pump
Switch again and the pump will stop.

CB20.10/20.40 fire pump is composed of LP centrifugal pumps, MP


centrifugal pumps, water ring vacuum pumps , medium-low pressure
switch valve,relief valves, etc. During priming, shutdown medium/ low
pressure outlet valve and valve of water cannon, and then fullfill the
water-ring water tank with clear water.After that, turn the handle of
medium-low pressure switch valve to Normal Pressure. Start the
engine, and the belt pully will drive the water-ring vacuum pump.
When vacuum value in the inlet pipe reaches certain extent, water
will be primed into the pump continuousy, forming water flow with
certain pressure and flowing into outlet pipes through check valve.
Then, priming valve will shut off and relief valve action.The water ring
priming pump will shutdown and the priming is finished.

There are left and right water inlet pipes at front of inlet.
with inlet connection to intake water from natural source or
hydrant. The front one is back inlet which connects with
water tank, which used a 125mm butterfly valve to control
the flow of water. At the inlets,there are also caps. When
necessary, remove cap according to real need and
connect suction pipes. Do not take off the cap when it is
not necessary, otherwise it may affect water priming and
water delivery.






At the low-pressure outlet of pump, there are check valve
and left /right outlet pipes. The water pushes the check
valve, and enters the outlet pipe and injects from all
branch outlets. There are left and right medium pressure
outlets in the front of pump room, which is used for
extinguishing fire under medium pressure or supplying
water to fire-extinguishing system of high-rise building.
There is one medium pressure outlet on left and right
medium-pressure outlet pipelines which are connected
with fire hose reel through high-pressure rubber hose.
There is one medium-pressure nozzle at all reel ends
which is used for extinguishing fire under medium
pressure.

Additional Cooling System

Additional cooling
system is to control the temperature of engine because of
pump a long time in continuous operation and keep it
always in normal scope of work 80-90 . Its
mounted on the upper part of the cylinder block.The
operation valves are installed in the pump outlet pipe on
the left side. When the water temperature exceeds the
limit or the pump is in long-time running, the operation
valve of additional cooler should be opened to cool down
the engine.

Additional Electric System




Additional electric system is a set of
electric equipment and lines which are
added according to the real need of the
vehicle. It includes electronic sirens, alarm
lights, outside lighting, inside lighting water
level meter and equipment compartment.

Outside lighting is installed on the top of
the pump room. The lamp can be rotated
360 horizontally ,lifted freely, and pitch
30. All the other lighting lamps have a
switch individually.

4. Operation of Vehicle

The priming device for this water tank fire vehicle
is water-ring vacuum pump. If there is no water,
water priming cant be completed and even the
device will be destroyed for overheating.
Sandwich-type PTO should be lubricated fully.
When connecting PTO, the clutch should be
completely separated for 4~6 seconds to the
extent that the rotating speed of transmission is
less than 100rpm.

When using fire hydrant to fill the tank with the water,
take out 65mm hose and fire hydrant wrench on the
ground (or underground) according to the need, with
one connection of the hose to the outer injecting orifice
on both sides of the pump (there are two 65mm pipe
fitting orifice on both sides of the rear pump), and the
other one to fire hydrant. Open fire hydrant, and water
will be injected in the tank.

Sink suction hose and filter into the water
source, and connect and seal them
respectively. Connect the suction hose with
the pump inlet orifice, and then sink the
filter into the water. When connecting each
pipeline, we should carefully check the seal
is intact and complete. The depth of filter
sinking into the water should be not less
than 500 mm so as to avoid inhalation of
sand and dirt.


All valves except for vacuum plug valve
should be closed;
Fasten the cap at the other inlet which
isn't been connected with water inlet pipe.

Start the engine, and after stepping on the clutch (to the end) for 4~6
seconds, press Electric Air Supply Valve button on operation panel
on the right side under the seat of the driver, and then press Pump
Switch button. If the indicating light is bright, it shows PTO
transmission shaft and pump transmission shaft are combined. Let
the pump run at low speed to see if the pump is in normal status and
gradually increase the throttle to speed up pump and discharge
pressure water. In case of using nozzle or monitor to put out fire, the
firemen can place the handle of medium-low pressure switch valve at
Normal Pressure position; if using medium pressure or medium and
low pressure combinable fire fighting, place the medium-low pressure
switch at Medium Pressure.
4.2.1
Methods of fire-fighting(according to different
pressure)




Three methods are possible for this vehicle: middle-
pressure, low-pressure medium-low pressure
combination fire extinguishing. According to the real
need, connect water hose with medium-pressure or
low-pressure or both of them and then connect it with
the nozzle. But there is no need of the hose when apply
the water cannon, under which condition can only use
low-pressure method.
4.2.2
Methods of fire-fighting(according to different
sources of water)

1.Put out fire by intaking water from natural source(river,


pond, etc) with vacuum pump.
Before intaking of water, check:
a. whether the water-ring type water tank is filled with
clean water
b. whether the pipes connected with vacuum pump is
unblocked, or else water-intaking will fail and will do harm
to vacuum pump .

a. According to the real need, pull out water hose and
connect it with the nozzle. Then connect the other end
with the outlet. But there is no need of the hose when
apply the water cannon. At that time, turn the handle of
medium-low pressure switch valve to Normal Pressure
position.

5.Maintenance




To prolong the service life of the vehicle,
ensure the safety and keep the vehicle in
good condition to meet requirements of
fire fighting, the vehicle must be
maintained regularly and carefully.
5.1
5.1 Inspection of the New Vehicle







Before using new vehicle, check and make sure
engine, oil passages and electric circuit are in
good condition. Check braking system, steering
system, driving device, suspended system,
clutch, PTO. Inject lubrication oil in the
connections when it is not enough. Check and
make sure all bolts especially U-bolt which is
used to fasten the tank is fasten .

5.2 Regular Maintenance and
Precautions

1. Water pump (fire-fighting pump), vacuum pump (priming device),
inlet and outlet valves, medium-low pressure switch valves and
other gauges should be in normal condition. The water-ring water
tank should be full with water.
2. Oil passage should be clear. Electric circuits, switches, alarming
lights, sirens and other lamps should work normally.
3. Suction hose, water hose and Rubber gasket inside nozzles
should keep in good condition. Replace or supply it immediately if
there is any damage or loss.

4.Thread part on both sides of suction hose should keep
clean.
5 Check lubrication of bearing and sealing of pump
frequently. Lubricate them once a quarter.
6 The lubrication oil of PTO should be enough, and the
circuit for the pneumatic clutch and indication(indication
for pump combined) should work normally.

5.3 Periodic Maintenance and Precautions

1.Every quarter, thoroughly inspect fastening condition
of tank and other parts once. Fasten it at fi there is any
looseness.
3.2.2 Clean the surface of the vehicle once a week and
wax it to keep the paint color. Repair it timely if there is
any damage.
3.2.3 Replace the lubrication oil in the bearing bracket of
water pump at least half a year.

5.4 Maintenance after Use

1.Clean the pump immediately after using. Blowdown residual
water in the pump and pipes in case of corrosion.
2. After using and cleaning the vehicle, tighten up cap of inlet/outlet
pipe. All valves should be closed and water-ring water tank should
be full with clean water.
3.Periodically test the maximum suction height, priming time,
maximum outlet pressure and flow rate to test the technical
conditions of the vehicle. Find out and clear trouble as early as
possible.

adds up to 3~6 hours, the bearing and
sealing point should be added with
lubricating grease.
