Rolling Contact
Bearing Test Rig
Introduction
Bearings are found in applications ranging from automobiles, airplanes,
computers, construction equipment, machine tools, DVD players,
refrigerators and ceiling fans.
Bearings must be able to offer high precision, reliability and durability,
as well as the ability to rotate at high speeds with minimal noise and
vibration and carry remarkable loads with ease and efficiency.
The performance of bearing for a given condition depends on the type
of bearing, lubricant used and working temperature of the
bearing
Objective
Experimental analysis for study & comparison of
different types of the rolling contact bearings in different
conditions through the measurement of
Frictional Torque
Critical Speed of bearings &
Temperature due to heat generation
Types of bearing can be tested

Critical Speed Measurement
The critical speed is the theoretical angular velocity that
excites the natural frequency of a rotating object. As the
speed of rotation approaches the object's natural
frequency, the object begins to resonate, which
dramatically increases system vibration.
