Teaching through

and about
Television
What particular text should a teacher
choose?

There is Student Activity 9 that

provides students with a series of
choices for thinking, talking, and
writing about television.

Taught in general term

Many teachers are familiar with a close reading of a written text. The
critical-reading approach utilized in this activity is very similar to one
which teacher might already employ in teaching the analysis of
narrative coherence, a short story.

There is Student Activity 10, that student should to identify random

facts within a storyline and then interpret those facts as patterns which
cohere in this overall narrative.

Then, they are asked to explain in writing.
