FOCUS GROUP

A level Music video

The feedback I received from the focus group I organised with peers from my sixth form was
very helpful as it gave me huge feedbacks on how I can improve my music video. Overall
the feedback I received contained huge criticism on the filters and effects that were used.
Many of the peers did believe the product was a good music video however said it lacks
professionalism. The lip syncing of the video has also not been completed to an adequate
standard as there are large amounts of the video that have not been synced properly. It is
essential that this is fixed before submitting the final video. The quality of narrative used in
the music video has also been questioned. According to the viewing panel the quality of
actor was not of the professional standard a music video should have, Some of the actors
have done there job to a very high standard however others lack the vital skills making this
video looking unprofessional and removes the emotional aspect from the video. Another
negative aspect mentioned In the focus group was the fact the transition between shots
takes too long. This disengages the audience and disorientates the audiences viewing.
However the focus group did say that he wide range of shots used was a positives and tells
the story from two important perspective.
Although the focus group agreed the narrative was the best part of the music video
there was many constructive critical comments amount about the over mis en scene.
Many exteral media sources where included creating intertextal references in the
video, The narrative was of the simpliest level therefore the audience where easily
able to keep up. However the quality of acting lead to the demographic being
confused. The large number of low quaity locations used restricted audience pleasure
due to the poor lighting and backround images placed within the shots leading to us
creating a brand new Mis-En-Scene

MIS-EN-SCENE
Although a wide range of camera angles where used, A large percentage of the focus
group believed they my final first draft look tacky and unprofessional. It was clear that
many shots including the Dolly appeared to be shaky and disjointed, also the frequent
long shots used during performance shots significantly reduced the genres identity
restricting audience identification of the video.

CAMERA
The editing used was of the lowest quality according to the focus
group. The filters used juxtaposed the narrative used making it
almost impossible for the audience to understand the ideologies
within the video. The low quality and poor lip syncing made the
video look unprofessional and far from the required A Level
standard.
