ART TERMS
Onomatopoeia: refers to words whose very sound
is very close to the sound they are meant to illustrate.
Examples: BANG, POW, HUFF, BUZZ, & SNAP

Pop Art: an art movement that began in the U.S. in


the 1950s and reached its peak of activity in the 1960s,
chose as its subject matter the nameless, everyday, and
ordinary iconography in American life, as comic strips,
billboards, commercial products, and celebrity images.

ROY LICHTENSTEIN (1923 1997):


He was an American Pop Artist.
His work defined the basic idea of pop art better than
any other through parody.
His work was heavily influenced by both popular
advertising and the comic book style.

1. Think of an
onomatopoeia word and
designs/ bold colors that
you typically see in a
comic strip (Pop Art)
2. Sketch out your ideas in
your sketchbook.
3. Final draft: use pencil
first to draw your word
(LARGE) and designs.
( Fill the entire page with
patterns/color.)
4. Color the ENTIRE PAGE
with bright colors!
5. Write your first & last
name & grade on
artwork.
