What is the system of study that you use in order to
accurately handle the word of God?

Three key principles of good Bible hermeneutics


1. Historical-Grammatical
2. Scripture interprets Scripture
3. The NT is the foundation in our understanding of the
OT
Why people don’t read and study the Bible

1. The Bible doesn't seem relevant to my life

2. The Bible is confusing and hard to understand

3. I end up always feeling guilty when I read the Bible

4. I rely on my pastors and leadership to teach me what the


Bible says

5. The Bible is boring to me


Why people don’t read and study the Bible

6. My life is hectic and I simply don't have time to read the


Bible

7. The Bible is full of contradictions and therefore lacks


credibility

8. I don't read period, not just the Bible but I don't read

Why people don’t read and study the Bible

1. Heart problems (parable of the sower)


Main point of this parable - the success of the seed (the
word of God) is dependent upon the condition of the
soil (the heart)

2. Head problems (two men on the road to Emmaus)


A system of study so when the Scripture is properly
exegeted one can see Christ
The Bible is one Book that is comprised of 66 books.
 Old Testament - 39 books
 New Testament - 27 books

The Bible was written over a 1500 year time period.


 Moses wrote the Penetauch around 1400 B.C.
 The apostle John wrote the book of Revelation around 90-95
A.D.

The Bible was written on 3 different continents


 Africa
 Asia
 Europe

The Bible was written in three different languages

Definition is the manifest perfection of God’s presence

Plan = the “kingdom of God”


Definition is the people of God, in the land of God under
the rule of God’s obedient king

Theme of the Bible

The Glory of God


Numbers 14:21 but indeed, as I live, all the earth will be
filled with the glory of the LORD.
 Who is going to do it?
Answer - God Himself
 Where will it happen?
Answer - Earth
 When will it happen?
Answer - at some point in the future
 What is it that God is going to do on earth in the
future?
Answer - fill it with His glory
The glory of God in PREDESTINATION

Ephesians 1:6
to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us
in the Beloved.

Ephesians 1:12
to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the
praise of His glory.

Ephesians 1:14
who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the
redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.
The glory of God in CREATION

Psalm 19:1
The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.

Isaiah 43:7
Everyone who is called by My name,
And whom I have created for My glory,
Whom I have formed, even whom I have made.”
The glory of God in the INCARNATION

John 1:14
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His
glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and

The glory of God in PROPITIATION

Romans 3:24-25
24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption
which is in Christ Jesus;

25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood


through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in
the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously
committed;
