INTRODUCTION
Medicated soap is a cleansing product designed to kill germs on the hands or body. These soaps are
made in either liquid or bar form by blending detergent additives with ingredients, which have
antimicrobial properties.

Medicated soap have the germicidal substance like, triclosan, trichlocarbon etc. Are incorporated into
them, in order to enhance their antibacterial activity.

These germicide substance are normally added in a specified amount and percentage of the substance
used are always stated on the soap case or inside the leaflet which certain the information on how to
use the soap for various purposes.

When we say medicated soaps, we refer to the specialty soaps that have such ingredients which can
cure one or the other problems such as acne and other skin problems like black heads, clogged pores,
pimples, body itching, bacterial or fungal infections etc.

TYPES OF MEDICATED SOAPS

Anti-bacterial soap - to relieve various skin problems .

Anti fungal soap - having therapeutic effects that reduce the discomfort and relieve the
symptoms caused by various fungal infections.

Anti acne soap - that help in getting rid from acne and pimples .

Anti mosquito soap - to dispel mosquitoes, mostly in mosquitoe-infested areas.

Anti aging soap - useful for both cleansing the outer body as well as to slow down the signs
of aging.

Sensitive skin soap - which is gentle to the skin and maintains it properly.

Anti chlorine soap is used while swimming to keep the harmful effects of chlorine at bay.
PROCESS FLOW

Prepare the caustic soda solution by dissolving caustic soda in the water.
Allow the solution to blend for 3 days at least. Ensure that we leave them to stand for this time or even
more (the longer the better), to avoid soap being corrosive to the users skin and cloths.
Dissolve magnesium sulphate and borax separately with small amount of water to form paste.
Pour the P.K.O and coconut oil together and start stirring
Pour the soda ash into caustic soda solution and continue stirring.
Then add the colourant to the caustic soda solution and stir very well.
Pour the oils into the caustic solution mixture and continue stirring vigorously. The addthe silicate and
continue stirring
This is the last step of the chemical combination. At this stage you will need to add glycerine, pink oil,
tricolans, magnesium sulphate, borax and fragrance.
Then you will continue stirring until all the chemicals have mixed very well.
Pour mixture into the soap moulds and allow to solidify.
