Overview/Purpose:

4th Grade better understanding of cardinal


direction (north, south, east, west),
Earth Science Longitude and Latitude concepts (grid
system and how to locate places
on a map)
Fulfills Common Core State
Standards for English Language introduce new vocabulary and discuss
Arts/Literacy k-5 major cities, and landmarks
Warm Up/Review
CYCLE We will start inquiry. Ask warm up questions such as:

- How many of you know what direction north is?

- Can anyone point to where New York City is on a
map?

Tricycle
We will start with some visuals such as a map, compass
or globe.
