What is Effective Communication?
Effective communication is the
ability to collaborate with others
and achieve previously set goals
for the collaboration.
While it can vary from situation
to situation, achieving the desired
outcome of the collaboration or
communication is a result of
effective communication with
others.

What is Body Language?

Body Language is a form of nonverbal communication that can be used


to interact, teach, and communicate with others.
It can sometimes be misconstrued depending on the perspectives of the
people around you.

Perceptions and Body Language
Body language is one of the most
common forms of nonverbal
communication used everyday.
The face is the most commonly
noticeable element in body language
communication.
Perception of body language differs
from person to person, and it is vital
to ensure that this factor is taken into
consideration when using body
language to communicate with others.

Lack of eye contact


Intimidating Facial Expressions
Incorrect Body Posture
Incorrect Stance
Not allowing enough Personal Space
Appearing bored or disinterested

Effective Communication
Lack of eye contact shows
disinterest and can quickly end
communication. An incorrect stance can intimidate others, and cause challenges in the
communication process.
Upset, disappointed, or angry Not allowing enough personal space can also impair the communication

Communication does not experience the strains or challenges when facial


expressions, eye contact, stance, body posture, personal space, and
interest in communication are in place.
These will allow you to establish and build healthy relationships with
other professionals, as this shows your dedication and commitment to
effective communication with others.
