Dash switch (if equipped) must be in the
automatic (not inhibited/not disabled)
regeneration position.
Caterpillar recommends automatic
regeneration for most applications.
 Manual Regeneration
(Parked Regeneration)
Following conditions must be met:
Truck must be parked in a safe manner and set the
parking brake
The DPF Lamp must be on or flashing with the
Inhibit (Disable) Switch in the Not Inhibited (Not
Disabled) position
Engine must be running
Truck must be in neutral
Automatic transmissions only
The driver must not push the throttle, clutch or
service brake pedals during a manual regeneration.
Press the Manual Regeneration (or Parked
Regeneration) switch for four seconds.

Vehicle operating conditions:
Engine rpm increases to between 1200 and
1400 rpm
Engine fan will come on
Manual regenerations will take 40 to 60
minutes

Engine Noise 2007 Model Year Only
If truck is shut down during a regeneration,
the CRS purge air pump will run for run for
approx. 10 minutes.
When key is on at truck startup, the air pump
will run for approx. 5 minutes
This is normal operation of the pump
