SECTION C: COMPREHENSION
How many marks?
Questions are based on the text and HOTS

Tips to get it right:


- Answer based on the paragraph (as stated)
- Read carefully - Identify the hint/word (important)
- HOTS: Logical and make sense
Tips to avoid losing marks:
- Use correct pronoun (hint in the question itself)
- Write only the answer needed - Do not write too long
Why?
- Write only one word if the questions asked for 'a/the word'
- Avoid misspellings
SECTION C: SUMMARY

Tips to get it right:


- Highlight/Underline the requirements
- Identify the starting and ending lines/sentences and put '//'
- Underline important points and always refer to the requirements
when in doubt
- Make a box - easier to count (both for students and markers)
- Do not write more than 130 words - points after 130 words will
not be counted
- Identify the correct pronoun to be used
Tips to not lose marks:
- Use correct pronoun
- Wrong pronoun? Will be penalised once
- Repetitive wrong pronoun?
- Write in correct sequence especially for; events and steps
- Wrong sequence? Will be penalised
- Repetitive wrong sequence?
- Write complete sentences - Do not leave it hanging
- Incomplete sentences? Will affect your language marks
- Must have 10 points or more within the 130 words
Tips to get good language/paraphrase marks:
- Use compound sentences
- Use complex sentences
- Rephrase the sentences in your own words without changing
the meaning
- Use different vocabulary - shorten the sentences
- Use sentence connectors
- Be careful with your grammar and spelling
