PLC MEETING

31st March 2017

It is a human birthright to be a learner.

There is little we do that is more
important.
Carol Tomlinson
WE GATHER TOGETHER ON THE JOURNEY
We gather today in the name of our God.
We gather to share, support, encourage, celebrate,
and learn from each other.
We gather as people who journey in faith.
Although our pathways are different, our journey is the same.
Moving forward as one body
into a future filled with possibility,
we walk with hope, because we have chosen to be light
for each other on the way.
Amen

How do we ensure that the teaching strategies that we are using are
based on best possible practice and are reflective of evidence based
research.
LEARNING INTENTIONS
Learning Intentions describe what it is we want students to learn in
terms of the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and values within any
particular unit of lessons. These provide guidance to the teacher
about what to teach, help learners be aware of what they should
learn from the lesson, and form the basis for assessing what
students have learnt and what teachers have taught.

SUCCESS CRITERIA
The purpose of the Success Criteria, or What are we looking
for? is to make students understand what the teacher is using as
the criteria for judging their work, and, of course, to ensure that
the teacher is clear about the criteria that will determine if the
learning intentions have been successfully achieved.

FEEDBACK
Feedback is information with which a learner can confirm, add to,
overwrite, tune, or restructure information in memory Winne
and Butler (1994)

Important Questions to Ask:

Where is the student going?
How is the student going?
Where to next?
FEEDBACK cont
Feedback is welcomed that is:
Just in time.
Just for them.
Just for where they are in their learning.

Feedback enables students to go beyond attaining factual information

to
developing a deeper conceptual understanding of the topic.
