The M4 was the first gas-operated shotgun produced by Benelli. Its function is
designed around an entirely new method called the "auto regulating gas
operated" (ARGO) system. The short-stroke design uses two stainless-steel self-
cleaning pistons located just ahead of the chamber to function opposite
the rotating bolt, thereby eliminating the need for the complex mechanisms
found on other gas-actuated automatics. The ARGO incorporates only four
parts: two symmetrical shrouds containing two small steel gas pistons.
The Benelli Supernova is a pump action shotgun, popular for huntingand self-
defense. Its most innovative and distinguishing feature is a one-piece
receiver and changeable stock with shim kit. The Supernova is known for its
large trigger guard, extreme durability and reliability. S
SUPERNOVA with SteadyGrip: This model is only available in a 24" barrel. The
steady grip was designed for improve steadiness while taking a shot
The Browning Automatic 5, most often Auto-5 or simply A-5, is a recoil-
operated semi-automatic shotgun designed by John Browning. It was the
first successful semi-automatic shotgun design, and remained in production
until 1998. The name of the shotgun designates that it is an autoloader with
a capacity of five rounds, four in the magazine and one in the
chamber. Remington Arms sold a variant called the Remington Model
11 that was nearly identical but lacked the magazine cutoff found on the
Browning
A double-barreled shotgun is a shotgun with two parallel barrels, allowing two shots
to be fired.
See also: coach gun and sawed-off shotgun
Double-barreled shotguns come in two basic configurations: the side-by-side
shotgun (SxS) and the over/under shotgun("over and under", O/U, etc.), indicating
the arrangement of barrels. The original double-barreled guns were nearly all SxS
designs, which was a more practical design of muzzle-loading firearms.
Early cartridge shotguns also used the SxS action, because they kept the exposed
hammers of the earlier muzzle-loading shotguns they evolved from.
When hammerlessdesigns started to become common, the O/U design was
introduced, and most modern sporting doubles are O/U designs
The Franchi SPAS-12 is a combat shotgun manufactured by Italianfirearms
company Franchi from 1979 to 2000. The SPAS-12 is a dual-mode shotgun,
adjustable for semi-automatic or pump-action operation. The SPAS-12 was sold
to military and police users worldwide on the civilian market and has been
featured in many movies, TV shows, and video games.
The appearance and intended purpose of the SPAS-12 initially led to its "Military"
designation as a Combat Shotgun.
The Franchi SPAS-15 is a dual-mode 12 gauge combat shotgunmanufactured by
the Italian company Luigi Franchi S.P.A..
The weapon is based on the SPAS-12, and has similar pump-action/semi-automatic firing
modes. In semi-automatic mode a gas piston drives a bolt carrier and rotating bolt. In
pump-action mode the same components are driven by sliding the fore-end backwards.
Pump-action mode is required to reliably fire low-pressure (less lethal) ammunition such
as tear gas rounds or less-lethal bean bags. Switching between firing modes is done by
pressing a button above the foregrip, and sliding the foregrip slightly forwards or
backwards. The barrel is chrome lined and features screw-in choke tubes
The Heckler & Koch Fabarm FP6 is a pump-action combat shotgun that was manufactured by
the Italian firearms company Fabbrica Bresciana Armi S.p.A. (FABARM) and sold by Heckler &
Koch. It was intended for civilian and law enforcement use
The machined receiver is manufactured from lightweight Ergal 55 alloyand is drilled and
tapped for scope mounting. Three of the four variants were sold with an attached Picatinny
rail for mounting optics or accessories and the bottom forward edge of the forend is also
drilled to accept an accessory rail
The Heckler & Koch HK CAWS (H&K CAWS) is a prototype automatic
shotgundesigned as a combat shotgunco-produced by Heckler &
Koch and Winchester/Olin during the 1980s. It was Heckler & Koch's entry
into the U.S military's Close Assault Weapon System program.
It is a 10-round, 12-gauge, bullpup shotgun with two firing modes: semi-
auto and full-auto. The gun is fully ambidextrous
The High Standard Model 10 (HS10) is a gas operated, semi-automatic
shotgun that was manufactured by the High Standard Manufacturing
Company of Hamden, CT. It is easily recognized by its bullpup design,
rotatable shoulder stock, and integrated flashlight.
Originally, the Model 10 was sold to law enforcement only. The concept of this
shotgun was quite interesting to many police agencies who adopted the
Model 10 in the late 1960s and early 1970s; however, most of the agencies
found many shortcomings, and ultimately ceased using the Model 10.
The Ithaca 37 is a pump-action shotgun made in large numbers for the civilian,
military, and police markets. It utilizes a novel combination ejection/loading
port on the bottom of the gun which leaves the sides closed to the elements.
Since shotshells load and eject from the bottom, operation of the gun is equally
convenient for both right and left hand shooters. This makes the gun popular
with left-handed shooters. The model 37 is considered one of the most durable
and reliable shotguns ever produced.
The Ithaca Mag-10 is a gas-operated, semi-automatic shotgun
chambered in 10-gauge (3"). The CounterCoil system built
into the front of the magazine tube reduced the recoil from the
round to allow easier second shots but cut the magazine size in
half to 2 shells. Regular models had jeweled-finish bolts,
engraved barrels and checkered stocks. It was produced until
1989, at which point Remington Arms bought the design and
used it as the basis for the Remington Model SP-10.
The Masterkey is a door breaching shotgun system manufactured by Knight's
Armament Company.
The Masterkey project was initiated during the 1980s to provide assault rifles with a
potent built-in door breaching tool. Individual soldiers were often forced to carry a
breaching shotgun in addition to their standard issue rifle, but the Masterkey
removes this need. The system consists of a Remington 870 12 gauge pump-
action shotgun mounted on an M16 or M4 assault rifle in an underbarrel
configuration, much like the M203grenade launcher. It has a 3-round internal
magazine and can carry a fourth round in the chamber.
The Kel-Tec KSG is a bullpup 12-gauge pump
action shotgun designed by Kel-Tec. It has two
tube magazines which the user of the gun can switch between
manually.[2] Each tube holds a total of seven 2.75-inch
(70 mm) 12-gauge shotshells or six 3-inch (76 mm) shotshells.
The KS-23 is a Russian shotgun, although because it uses a rifled barrel it
is officially designated by the Russian military as a carbine. KS stands
for Karabin Spetsialniy, "Special Carbine". It is renowned for its large
caliber, firing a 23 mm round, equating to 6.27 gauge using the British
and American standards of shotgun gauges and approximately
4 gaugeusing the current European standards (based on the
metric CIP tables), making it the largest-bore shotgun in use today
The M26 Modular Accessory Shotgun System (MASS) is a
developmental under-barrel shotgun attachment for
the M16/M4 family of United States military firearms. It can also
be fitted with a pistol grip and collapsible stock to act as a
stand-alone weapon. It is replacing the
current M500 shotguns in service
The SRM Arms Model 1216 is a delayed blowback semi-automatic shotgun with a 16-
round detachable magazine. Designed for mobility, it is light and short and intended
for home defense and law enforcemen
The most unusual feature of the M1216 is the detachable magazine. The magazine
which runs parallel to the barrel is made of four tubes, each with its own spring and
follower. Each tube can hold four 2 3/4" or 3" shells for a total of sixteen. When inserted
into the gun, the operator can flip a switch and manually rotate the entire magazine,
either clockwise or counter clockwise, to choose which tube feeds into the receiver
The MAG-7 is a pump-action shotgun manufactured by Techno Arms PTY of South Africa
since 1995}
This 12 gauge smoothbore firearm has a 14-inch (36 cm) barrel and has a rust-
resistant parkerized finish. It is a close copy of the Remington 870, a widely
distributed design no longer under patent protection, and most parts
interchange freely. Compact, reliable, and affordable, it is popular with hunters
and others working or recreating in grizzly bear habitat. The perpetrator of
the Dawson College shooting was armed with an HP9-1-14.00.
11 that was nearly identical but lacked the magazine cutoff found on the
Browning.
The Remington Model 870 is a pump-action shotgun manufactured by Remington Arms
Company, LLC. It is widely used by the public for sport shooting, hunting, and self-defense
and used by law enforcement and military organizations worldwide. The 870 features a
bottom-loading, side ejecting receiver, tubular magazine under the barrel, dual action
bars, internal hammer, and a bolt which locks into an extension in the barrel. The action,
receiver, fire control group, safety catch and slide release catch of the Remington Model
870 shotgun are similar to those used on the Remington Model 7600 series pump-action
centerfire rifles and carbines. The basic fire control group design was first used in the
automatic 1148.
The RMb-93 is a pump-action shotgun designed and manufactured
by the KBP Instrument Design Bureau of Tula, Russia. It is the baseline
model of the Rys ("Lynx") series of shotguns, taking the modelname
of Rys-K. The RMb-93 has been conceived as a combat weapon
for Special Forces and Police units that might face Close Quarters
Battlesituations. The weapon is thus engineered to reduce size and
encumbrance as much as possible.
The Saiga-12 (/satwlv/) is a 12-gauge shotgun available in a wide range of
configurations, patterned after the Kalashnikov series of riflesand named for
the Saiga antelope. Like the Kalashnikov rifle variants, it is a rotating bolt, gas-
operated gun that feeds from a box magazine. All Saiga-12 configurations are
recognizable as Kalashnikov-pattern guns by the large lever-safety on the right
side of the receiver, the optic mounting rail on the left side of the receiver and
the large top-mounted dust cover held in place by the rear of the recoil spring
assembly.
The Daewoo Precision Industries USAS-12 (Universal Sporting Automatic
Shotgun 12 gauge) is an automatic shotgun designed as a combat
shotgun manufactured in South Korea by Daewoo Precision Industries during
the 1980sThe USAS-12 is a gas-operated, selective fire weapon, designed to
provide sustained firepower in close-combat scenarios. It accepts
detachable 10-round box magazines or 20-round drum magazines.[1]Both
types of magazine are made of polymer, and drum magazines have their rear
side made from translucent polymer for quick determination of the number of
shot shells left
The Winchester Model 1887 and Winchester Model 1901 are lever-
action shotguns originally designed by famed American gun designer John
Browning and produced by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company during the
late 19th and early 20th centuries. The shotgun was offered with only a 32" barrel.
A two piece finger lever with a trigger block to prevent accidental discharge. The
Winchester trademark stamp was moved to the upper tang, behind the
