Program Outcome
After the training participants should be
able to manage anxious patients with
nitrous oxide inhalation sedation.

1. appreciate the objectives of nitrous

2. correlate the behaviour management
techniques with nitrous oxide sedation.
3. identify a good candidate for dental
treatment with nitrous oxide sedation.

5. monitor the patient during dental
procedures with nitrous oxide sedation.
6. prepare the patient for dental
treatment with nitrous oxide sedation.

sedation instructions.
8. record the dental treatment procedure
with N2O/O2 inhalation sedation.
9. demonstrate the patient discharge
procedure after dental treatment with

The Objective of Nitrous
Oxide Sedation

To decrease patients anxiety and


enhance effective communication and
patients coooperation.
Introduction
- Nitrous oxide is a colorless gas and
relatively insoluble and excreted quickly
from the lungs.
- It is always administered with oxygen to
safeguard the patients supply of oxygen.
(medicated oxygen).
