The conventional bus does not


provide daily passenger demand.
The section of the roads in the historic
center is limited.
The most part of the roads in the
historic center are saturated.
The implementation of a massive public
transport system was needed

The goal of the project is to provide a
quality transport system that discourages
the use of the private vehicle.

public transport system

Budjet: 300 million dollars
Length: 10,2 km each way
Frequency: 6 min (peak hour)
EMOV EP: Agency responsible for the management and
control of traffic in the city.
Number of units: 14
Velocity: 22 Km/h
TARGET: Citizens using the public transport system
Travel Time: 35 min
Passengers/year: 40 million

This plan considers all the types of motorized
and non-motorized transport.

This report shows stadistics about the past, the
present and the projections to the futre of the
air quality

Make comparisons with the goals defined in
the mobility plan.
5: Conduct information campaigns to minimize the
project's impact on society.
6: Compensate shops close to the project because
the construction work of the project.

The responsable for the elaboration of
the plan is the Municipal Transit
Authority.

Financial Sources: The mayor has made efforts for the national government
contribution to $ 180 million.
Tough decisions: The decisions throughout the implementation of the
proyect caused discomfort traders and road users in general, but those
decisions were necessary.

Organization of fairs to revive the economy of the intervened areas
EMOV EP: coordinates contingency plans and contributes assigning civilian traffic agents, install
road signs and prepare the new areas to be tapped.
Comunication: The most important part of the project is the constant communication with
citizens
Meetings with all municipal companies
Reorganization of the tariffed rotary parking system in the historic center.
LESSONS AND IMPLICATIONS
PLANIFICATION: The Project presents a delay of 6 months and has
increased its cost in about 35 million.
DONT MAKE CHANGES ON THE FLY!!!: Causes discomfort and delays.
TAKE A CHANCE: If you do not take the first step the Project never
made
Continued participation of citizens.
Social and economic impact studies have to be done.
Do not make a single project, the project must be complemented by
other policies and interventions for a comprehensive solution.
