 Background of the study
Nowadays, people of our society get used of drugs, which became
a serious problem our country faces today. Even the youth start engaging
with these unhealthy behaviours that was really having a negative impact
on the heath and safety of our community. The general public also viewed
drug use as a problem of certain individuals who were sick, lack of
information or will power or were deficient of some skill. But in fact, a
young persons ability to make healthy decisions depends on other peoples
influences. Other believes that the risk factor why people engaged to this
kind of unhealthy behaviour is the family management problems, schools,
peer groups and the community itself.
 Becoming a healthy contributing community is not so
easy job, but some strong communities tends to provide a
preventive actions like programs which can involve youth in
community service, norms and public policies, provide access
to resources such as job training, employment or recreational
activities, but early in life, built in the family and other social
system is the only key for a healthy life.
 Scope and Delimitation of the Study

The research study seeks to determine how Barangay

Malaking Pook obtain being declared as a Drug free
community. This study will determine the programs or
activities of barangay officials implemented to avoid drug
abuse. It covers the profile of residents in barangay Malaking
Pook.
It also seeks to recognize the ways on how to keep the
community free from drugs that may be proposed to lessen
the drug addicts.
Furthermore, this study is limited to the data gathered
by the researchers through the key respondents involved. To
achieve the objective of the study, the researchers prepare a
questionnaire as the main instrument in gathering data. The
study covers academic year (2017-2018).
 Significance of the study
This research work is conducted to serve as a
basis for other barangay to be drug free and to know
the roles of every individual in the community.
The study would be a great help to all individual
and it will provide awareness and knowledge to those
who sees drug as a stress reliever. This research could
advise and guide barangay officials and the residents of
barangay Malaking Pook.
In addition, this study can also be used to provide
additional information and background on the field
where they will be engaged in the future.
 Theoretical and Conceptual
Framework
For the clearer understanding of this study, the researchers provide a conceptual

framework of the study including the conceptual paradigm which shows the

variables taken into considerations.

 Research Design
The main purpose of this study was to
determine How the Barangay Malaking Pook
obtain being declared as a drug free community.
For this purpose, the researchers made use
of the descriptive method of research because it
is the most suitable method that best measures
the status concerns posted in the study. The
researchers used the descriptive method to
obtain the facts concerning to this objectives.
 Data Gathering Instrument
The researchers prepared a questionnaire used as
the main instrument in data gathering, divided into three
parts. The first part focused on the barangay Malaking
Pook who get totally free from drugs while the second
part of the questionnaire focused on the programs or
activities that Barangay Malaking Pook implements and
the third part focused on the positive effects of this act to
the community.
The researchers used the following scale in scoring
the respondents in which five (5) is considered as highest
in the rank and one (1) as the lowest.

 Data Gathering Procedure
The researchers gathered data and
information in Brgy. Malaking Pook in San Pascual
Before gathering pertinent information about the
topic ,the researchers first asked their research
adviser for possible topic about their study .with
the proper direction set by the adviser the
researchers started to gather data and information
about the topic .The researchers personally visited
the Barangay Malaking Pook to acquire additional
information and asked for their permission if they
can be the subject of the study and also to conduct
in survey with them.
 Moreover, the researchers have read several
reading materials from which they drew the
information. The researchers also used the
electronic sources to gather more data .The
researchers formulated a self-constructed
questionnaire. These questionnaires were
submitted to their research adviser for further
questions and clarifications .After checking and
revising the questionnaires ,their adviser permitted
them to conduct preliminary survey to the officials
of Barangay Malaking Pook and its residents.
 Statistical Treatment of Data
To achieve the objective of the study, the
researchers through the statistician made use of
the following statistical treatment to analyze the
result .
 Simple Percentage Calculation
The responses are computed as the basis for
the interpretation of data on the number of
respondents at Barangay Malaking Pook.
The formula is:

N = number of respondents
 Ranking
The researchers used the following range
in determining the ranking of responses where
five (5) is the highest in the interpretation of
data.

 Source of Data
The source of the data covered one
hundred residents of Barangay Malaking Pook,
representing its hundred percent of the total
number of barangay officials, parents and
teenagers in the community.
 Statement of the Hypothesis
The following hypothesis were assumed by
the researchers during the study.
1. There is a significant difference between
the activities or programs of Barangay Malaking
Pook in maintaining drug free the community to
other barangay.
2. There is no significant difference in
winning the battle against illegal drugs.
