AHA!
If you know that you
KNOW, that is GOOD;
if you know that you
DO NOT KNOW that is
BETTER; if you do not
know that you DO NOT
KNOW, that is FATAL.
If you always do
what youve always done,
you will always get
what youve always got.

Principles:

10 commandments
Declaration of
Human Rights of the
United Nations.
Natural Law - Vatican II:
Church in the Modern World (GS#16, #79)
In the depth of his conscience, the human
person detects a law which he does not impose
upon himself, but which holds him to obedience
For we have in our heart a law written by God.
According to this law, we will be judged.

The Natural Law principles are objective

Independent of human subjectivity
They apply whether known or not

COGNITIVE STRUCTURE

For a value to be truly a value, the choice

must pass through three criteria:

1. The choice must be done freely.

2. The choice must be made from alternatives
3. The choice must be done after considering
consequences.

Without these three conditions, we cannot truly

claim the value as a value.
NATURAL LAW VS. VALUES

Values are :
- Subjective and may
differ from person to
another, from country to
another, from culture to
another.
Natural Law:
- Objective and
independent of the
individuals evaluation.
An aptitude or inclination fro some action required by frequent
repetition and showing itself increased facility of performance.
Habits may be good or bad. Helps or hinders. Without habits we
would not be able to manage our life. Acquired mode of
behaviour.
An acquired mode of
behaviour aligned with the
principles of the natural
law, which become a
persons values.
A habit implying the
choice of excellence in
conduct.
Excellence: the balance
between excess and
defect.
The 5 Natural Inclinations or
Principles of Natural Law
To do the good
To seek the knowledge of Truth
To self-preservation and preservation of life
To sexual union and rearing of children
To live in society

These become Virtues through the
