LEARNING ABOUT 1 POINT PERSPECTIVE

Objectives

Students will be able to recognize surrealist artwork

Students will be able to comprehend 1 point perspective through
practice
Students will be able to create a 1 point perspective room that
demonstrates surrealism using mixed media.
What is surrealism?

An Art movement that began in Europe in

the 1920s
Surrealism features artwork that is DREAM
LIKE, and has JUXTAPOSE images
JUXTAPOSE: Two things that are put together
but they CONTRAST/ CLASH; Things that are
put together but do not make sense
together ON PURPOSE
FAMOUS ARTISTS FROM THE SURREALIST
MOVEMENT: SALVADOR DALI, RENE
MAGRITTE, etc.

Surrealism is a cultural movement that began in the early 1920s, and

is best known for its visual artworks and writings. The aim was to
"resolve the previously contradictory conditions of dream and
reality." Artists painted unnerving, illogical scenes with photographic
precision, created strange creatures from everyday objects and
developed painting techniques that allowed the unconscious to
express itself and/or an idea/concept ( wikipedia)

Let your imagination run wild!
What will you be doing?

Use 1 point perspective to create a surrealist

piece
Step 2

Once you are done coloring, cut

out the doors and windows
On a dark piece of paper, draw a
cool space scene with either
colored pencils or oil pastels
Selecting Collage

Random objects cut out cleanly from

magazines
LARGER objects in front
OVERLAP
Have some things going in and out of
doors

ORGANIZE FIRST and get everything

ready before gluing down!
CHALLENGE
DRAW OBJECTS IN THE ROOM ( bed,
chair, table)
If you are successful, you will get 10
extra credit!
Be CREATIVE and UNIQUE

point perspective and
has drawing and collage
in it, go for it! Just ask me
