Fixed pulse (S1)
Selection of fixed pulse width. Alternatives:
Variable pulse: The output pulse is deactivated
when the object state shows that the disconnector
or circuit-breaker has entered the correct state
Fixed pulse: Uses the maximum pulse width
Forced pulse (S2)
Execution of control command regardless of the recent
state (repeated command). Alternatives: Single pulse or
Forced pulse

Single pulse means that the object Forced pulse means that the
will check if the object state already function block will issue command

Cycle count (V12)
Cycle count process value
This value shows how many cycles the CB have been operated
Inactive time (V13)
The time the CB has been inactive
Alarm time (V40)
The time of the day when the alarm will be given
Register clear (V98)
Clear internal registrations (last and maximum)
Alarm ack (V99)

Exercise
Reset the cycle counter back to 0
Set the cycle count alarm limit to 10
Make 10 open /close operations on the
simulator to get an alarm

Option: Set the event mask in COCB1 to send

out an event for cycle count alarm active, and
cycle count alarm normal, to the display

6.3 Control block I/O

The control function blocks have generally all
similar inputs, outputs and setting parameters

The control block for the circuit-breaker

contains most of the functions that also can
be found in other control function blocks
Therefore this is used as an example

6.3.1 Control block inputs

OPENDIR
Direct open for external protection. This input will
bypass the interlocking. The protection function block
should not be connected via this input.
OPEN
Logic open signal. The interlocking will be checked
before the open command will be executed.
OPENENA
Enable signal for logic open. The interlocking scheme
for the open command should be connected to this
input.
CLOSE
ABB Oy, O232(En), 8

Logic close signal. The interlocking will be checked

6.3.1 Control block inputs, cont.

CLOSEENA
Enable signal for logic close. The interlocking
scheme for the close command should be
connected to this input.
BINOPEN
Open status of the object. The open signal from the
circuit-breaker should be connected to this input.
BINCLOSE
Close status of the object. The close signal from the
circuit-breaker should be connected to this input.
IV
Validity of object state. The global IV-variable for the

TIMOPEN
Time value of the open status input. The
global variable for object open time should
be connected to this input.
TIMECLOSE

ACK
The alarm signal acknowledgement deactivates all
active alarm signals of the function block.
BLOCK
Command handling block signal. Blocks the control
possibility for the push buttons and control system.
Open and Close inputs are still working.

6.3.2 Control block outputs

OOPEN
Open command pulse. Should be connected to the open coil
of the circuit-breaker, via a power output.
OCLOSE
Close command pulse. Should be connected to the close coil
of the circuit-breaker, via a power output.
AOPEN
Opening time alarm. Opening signal remains active until a
new successful opening operation occurs or an
acknowledgement is issued.
ACLOSE
Closing time alarm.
