INTRODUCTION

SAP Fiori is a new user experience (UX) for SAP software and applications. It
provides a set of applications (Apps) that sit inside Fiori Launchpad that are used in
regular business functions like work approvals, financial apps, calculation apps and
various self-service apps.
SAP Fiori allows users to start a process on their desktop/laptops and to continue that
process on a smartphone or on a tablet.
Fiori means flowers in Italian, first introduced in 2013

Wave 1 was 25 apps, Wave 2 is another 25 apps, currently Fiori has more than
400 apps

SAP Fiori apps are divided into three categories. They are distinguished on the basis of their function and infrastructure
requirement.

Transactional Apps (E.g. Create, change and view Purchase Order)

Analytical Apps: closely monitor KPIs, perform complex aggregations and calculations of the business operations and react
immediately as per the changes in the market condition. (HANA database only) Visual overview over a complex topic for
monitoring or tracking purposes

Fact sheets which display information about key business objects in SAP. For example, there is a fact-sheet app for viewing a
central purchase contract; it allows users to also drill down into related entities, such as vendor contacts, items under contract, and
terms

Traditionally in SAP if you want to view
a material, you may launch SAP Portal,
then launch SAPGUI, type in t-code
MM03, search for a material: CH-
3200, then select the views you would
like and tab through those until you find
the data you need.

 PRICING AND FEES

Fiori is $150 a user flat fee, which is small change if you are using one of the bigger roles like
Sales Representative. However if you are an employee, $150/user just to do approvals is a huge
barrier to entry.

P.S: Hikma pays annually 2100 $/user for the current SAP ECC
 DISADVANTAGES
Fees per user

Fiori needs current releases of SAP products, when a customer wants to install a Fiori app, the
customer may first need to upgrade to a more current version of the product and install certain
enhancement packs. Depending on how back-leveled the customer is, the upgrade can be a major
effort.

Fiori needs HANA: facts sheets and analytical apps doesnt work except on HANA
for transactional apps SAP says "They run best on an SAP HANA database, but can also be ported
to other databases with acceptable performance." without HANA, Fiori transactional app
performance is slow on mobile devices and, as a result, may not deliver a positive user experience.
