PHASE ONE
BRAINSTORM
A short animated video to attract audience for a battle of the bands event which
shows the bands, the date and time, and location
The animation will introduce the bands performing and show the details of the event
sequentially

The theme for the animation needs to match the theme for the event
Some possible themes include 70s disco, rock, rap, anime.

The main information that the advertisement needs to show is those mentioned
above, as well as
No drinking allowed
For years 10,11,12
Attract the largest audience within the specifications

PURPOSE
The purpose of this advertisement is to attract as many people from the range year 10-
12. This is to be achieved along with showing key information necessary for the
attendance, such as time, date, location etc.
DESIGN CRITERIA
To inform the viewers of the advertisement the location, time, date, participating
bands and the key theme of the event.
The primary audience is made up of years 10-12, and the event is hosted at a school,
therefore no inappropriate content should in the advertisement
The product, while mostly informational also needs to be appealing to look at, by
using an interesting colour scheme, and other elements of design
The advertisement needs to include a variety of media, including images, audio and
video
The advertisement needs to feature some form of frame by frame animation, used
to show off the theme of the event
TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience of the advertisement animation is specified in its purpose; to
advertise a battle of the bands competition for year 10, 11, 12 students. This means
that the target audience is people who fit into that age range. Other elements of target
audience include ethnicity, age, language and socio-economic status. Only a few of
these are relevant, firstly language, which is relevant as the bands songs will all be
sung in English, thus the advert and target audience will be English. The only other
relevant discriminator will be socio-economic status, as the competition will be held
in, to quote the task sheet: will be conducted at your school, thus the target audience
is the few who can accept to send year 10 12 students to Hale.
REQUIREMENTS
As Hale School is an Anglican school, the bands depicted in the advertisement, and in turn
the ones at the event must not breach this religion in too extreme of a way, i.e. satanic
band names
The school maintains a strict no alcohol or drugs policy, which is a requirement for the
event and needs to be present on the advertisement
As the school is situated in a multicultural environment, and thus the event should respect
this, and the advertisement to.
TECHNOLOGIES
A variety of technologies must be used in the creation of the advertisement for a
Battle of the Bands event.
Adobe Animate will be used for the animation, specifically the frame by frame animation
Adobe Photoshop will be used for creating the custom graphics necessary to show the
details
The music will be sourced from the internet and applied to the final product through
Adobe Animate.
The hardware used is the all-in-one computers present in CS-1, as well as the occasional
use of the Surface Pro 4 Tablet.
Finally, the last technology used is Adobe Animate to put the entire project together, and
export it to an appropriate format.

EVALUATION QUESTIONS
Does the work provide the viewer with all the necessary information, that is the
location, time, date venue etc.?
Is the animation of a suitable quality, and what parts of it stand out to you?
Does the theme work with the event and do the bands fit well into the theme?
Is the target audience taken into account in the construction of the advertisement?
Does the advertisement promote the event in an accurate way, and encourage
people to be there?
