Society: relationships among human beings.
Culture: A societys total way of life including
all of its traditions and institutions.
Traditions the customs and usages that society
passes down from one generation to the next.
Institutions the formal organizations by which
society transmits traditions.

Sin distorts this.
Two extremes: Glorifying the individual
or glorifying the group.

Nuclear family: husband, wife and their
children
Extended family: nuclear family plus
grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins,
etc.

Procreation having kids and
populating the earth
Transmitting culture families pass on
traditions, languages and values to help
children flourish.

A persons belief regarding the
supernatural person or power that has
created and sustained the universe.
a system of practices used to show
reverence to that person or power.

The purpose of religion:
Gives people a sense of purpose.
Provides people with beliefs and values
Regulates how people should live and
worship.
Can include how people dress, what
they eat, how they celebrate holidays,
etc.

Freedom of religion is Good!
Allows people to decide their own
beliefs.
Gives people an opportunity to ask
questions.
Prevents one mandated religion that
persecutes those who dont convert.

led to people doing what is right in
