documentary as were able to cater to what (17)
our target audience wants.
SIGNIFICANT FINDINGS FROM OUR QUESTIONNAIRE INCLUDE:
- What comes to mind when you think of alcohol?
Majority of the individuals answered with socialising with friends, parties and relaxing. This provides us with a
more positive view on alcohol which thus gives us a counter argument.

- How old were you when you had your first drink?
All of the responses from this question tell us that the majority of people, if not all, first drank when they were
under the legal drinking age. This helps us to gain more of a first person view into our boding question of
whether the legal age should be lowered.

- What style of presenter do you prefer in documentaries?

- Do you prefer to watch a documentary that would focus on two sides on an argument or one side?
- Why would you watch a documentary?
- Would you expect a documentary to have music?
These four questions were asked to help us decide on the purpose of our documentary as well as some of the
codes and conventions expected by our target audience. They have proved helpful as we have developed on the
responses in order to make up our final proposal.
CONCLUSION AND REFLECTION.

This audience research has helped us in deciding the general codes and conventions
of our documentary as well as the stylistic elements our target audience would
expect to see.
We managed to incorporate the research for our secondary audience into this
audience research as we gained responses from adults, including parents.

After conducting our audience research we have decided on the style of our
documentary being two sided and its purpose to inform, raise awareness and
entertain. Its also solidified our initial idea in using a wide range of ages for our
target audience as our results show the contrasting opinions of our primary and
secondary audiences.
