Japan History in the 1800s


1804- Japan refuses to trade with Russian
ships
1853- US forces japan to open up to
foreign influences after being isolated for
over 200 years

abolished in 1867.

First Sino-Japanese war was fought
between the Qing Empire and the
Empire of Japan. Primarily over the

six months of losing and unbroken

Japan America Civil War 1861

Japan History 1900s
1904- Russo-Japanese War

The Russo-Japanese War was


fought between the Russian
Empire and the Empire of Japan
over rival imperial ambitions in
Manchuria and Korea.
1910- Japan annexes Korea after three
years of fighting, becoming one of the
worlds leading power
Japan and Korea become one
together.
1914- Japan joins World War 1

Japan joins the Britain side and her


allies, gaining some Pacific Islands from
Germany at the end of the war.
The great japan earthquake of 1923
On september 1 1923 in tokyo
Yokohama Japan had one of it
biggest earthquakes . Which is also
known for the great kanto
earthquake. It had a magnitude of
7.9 . There was a death toll of
140,000. The earthquake generated a
tsunami with a height of 39.5 feet (
metres) , which ended up destroying
155 houses and killing 66 people.
1941- Pearl Harbor

Japan launches a surprise attack on the US


pacific fleet st Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The US
and main allies declared war on Japan.

2003- Government announces decision to
install purely defense
2011- March 11 Tohoku earthquake and
tsunami
Followed by Fukushima Daiichi
nuclear disaster.
2015- Lower house of parliament backs
bills allowing troops to fight overseas
first time since Second World War,
prompting protests at home and
criticism from China.
2016- Two major earthquakes on the
southern island of Kyushu.
At least 44 people die and more than 1,000
are injured as a result of two major
earthquakes on the southern island of
Kyushu.
2017 June - Parliament passed a landmark
bill allowing Emperor Akihito to abdicate

The government will


now begin the process .
of arranging his
abdication, expected to
happen in late 2018,
and the handover to
Crown Prince Naruhito.

As the reason for Progressive paralytic disease . Decided to


become a doctor after he burned his hand in the fire as a kid
and got it fixed by doctors that inspired him to also be one. He
changed his name after reading about a great doctor with the
same name.
