HYBRID VECHICLE

A hybrid vehicle, in addition to its main

engine, has a drivetrain that can recover
and reuse energy
A different kind of transmission, one that
can recover, store and reuse
power hydraulically (rather than
electrically)
An energy storage system
Engine Hydraulic
Hydraulic system captures
and stores a large energy
normally wasted in vehicle
braking and uses this energy
to help propel the vehicle
during the next vehicle
acceleration.
The hydraulic system also
enables the engine to
operate more efficiently
when it is needed.
ICE-Hydraulic technology
has been widely used in
heavy duty vehicles
applications like large trucks,
mining trucks, bulldozers etc.
COMPONENTS
COMPONENTS
A High-Pressure Accumulator stores energy by using hydraulic
fluid to components nitrogen gas stored inside each
accumulator.
A Low-Pressure Reservoir stores hydraulic fluid after it has been
used by the pump/motor.
A Rear Drive Pump/Motor converts high pressure hydraulic fluid
into rotating power for wheels and transmit braking energy
back to the high pressure accumulator.
A Engine Pump transmit pressurized hydraulic fluid to the rear
drive pump/motor the high-pressure accumulator or both.
A Hybrid Controller monitors the driver acceleration and
braking actions and commands the hybrid system
components.
WORKING
TYPES OF HYDRAULIC hybrid
vehicle system

Parallel hydraulic hybrid

system
Series hydraulic hybrid system
PARALLEL HYBRIS SYSTEM
A pump/motor is used to
pump the hydraulic fluid from
the low pressure accumulator
to high pressure accumulator
by regenerative braking.
During acceleration, the
pressurized fluid leaves the
high pressure accumulator
and power the pump, motor
which in turns acts as a motor
to drive the motor connected
to the wheels, during this
process the hydraulic fluid is
returns back to the reservoir.
SERIES HYBRIS SYSTEM
A pump is used to pump the
hydraulic fluid from the low
pressure accumulator to the
high pressure accumulator
during braking.
During the acceleration the
energy stored in the
accumulator is used to power
the pump/motor.
The fluid then returns to the
reservoir.
The fluid from the reservoir
moves to the accumulator
through the pump and it
returns to the reservoir
through the motor.
BENEFITS OF HYDRAULIC
HYBRID
The ability to capture and use a large percentage of
the energy normally lost in vehicles braking.
It can quickly and efficiently store and release great
amounts of energy due to a higher power density.
Lower emissions.
Reduced operation costs.
Better acceleration perfoemance.
