555 timer is a highly stable device for generating
accurate time delay or oscillation.
It can be used with supply voltage
in the range of +5v to +18v and can drive load upto 20mA. Pin diagram Ground:it is connected to the ground terminal of the dc voltage source, voltages of the entire circuit are measured with respect to this terminal. trigger input: if the input<1/3Vs than at that condition output is high. Output: output of timer and the load is connected to this pin. Reset input: internal condition of the flipflop this pin reset the output of the flip-flop. Supply: this voltage must be pure ripple free DC voltage which is obtained by connecting a positive regulated power supply. Discharge:when the timer output is low this pin is connected to 0v. Threshold input:the pin is attached to the first comparator at the non- inverting input terminal. Control input:an external voltage applied to this terminal changes the threshold as well as trigger voltage. Modes of operation Ic 555 timer can be classified into two main categories: 1. Monostable multivibrator:producing a single pulse when triggered. 2. A stable multivibrator:producing a square wave. Monostable mutivibrator Astable multivibrator
