Ayurvedic medicine is one of the world's oldest holistic (whole-body) healing


systems. It was developed more than 3,000 years ago in India. Its based on the
belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind,
body, and spirit. It recommends the means of prevention and treatment of various
illness as well as preservation of health.
Qualities of the 3 Doshas:
Vata
In the body, Vata is associated with movement,
e.g. movement in the intestines, the blood circulation, movements of the joints.
At the mental level, Vata imbalance corresponds to being agitated
At the emotional level, to being anxious
Pitta
In the body, Pitta is associated to digestion and metabolism, to energy production.
At the mental level, Pitta imbalance corresponds to being irritated or under pressure
At the emotional level, to being angry
Kapha
In the body, Kapha is associated with cohesion and lubrication
At the mental level, Kapha in excess brings slowness, heaviness, lethargy
At the emotional level, depression
When the body is saturated with toxins, Kapha is always in excess

Palliative care :
The goal of palliative care is to help people with serious illnesses feel better. It prevents or
treats symptoms and side effects of disease and treatment. Palliative care also treats
emotional, social, practical, and spiritual problems that illnesses can bring up. When the
person feels better in these areas, they have an improved quality of life.

The Difference Between Palliative Care and Hospice :


Both palliative care and hospice care provide comfort. But palliative care can begin at
diagnosis, and at the same time as treatment. Hospice care begins after treatment of the
disease is stopped and when it is clear that the person is not going to survive the illness.
Hospice care is usually offered only when the person is expected to live 6 months or less.
