The History Of The Last Supper
The painting By Leonardo Da Vinci The Last Supper was initially started to be painted in the year 1495
and was completed by 1498.
You won't find it in a museum. Although The Last Supper is easily one of the worlds most iconic
paintings, its permanent home is a convent in Milan, Italy.
Da Vinci painted the religious work directly on the dining hall wall of the Convent of Santa Maria delle
Grazie back in 1495.
A hammer and nail helped Da Vinci achieve the one-point perspective. Part of what makes The Last
Supper so striking is the perspective from which it's painted, which seems to invite the viewer to step
right into the dramatic scene.
To achieve this illusion, da Vinci hammered a nail into the wall, then tied string to it to make marks that
helped guide his hand in creating the painting's angles.
The History Continued
It's inspired some wild theories.
In The Templar Revelation, Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince propose that the figure to the left of Jesus is not John, but Mary
Magdalene, and that The Last Supper is key evidence in a cover-up of the true identity of Christ by the Roman Catholic
Church.
In 2007, Italian musician Giovanni Maria Pala created 40 seconds of a somber song using notes supposedly encoded
within da Vinci's distinctive composition. She claims The Last Supper predicts an apocalyptic flood that will sweep the
globe from March 21 to November 1, 4006. 13. The Last Supper also inspired.
Want to see The Last Supper in person? Better book in advance. Only 20 to 25 people are allowed in at a time in visiting
blocks of 15 minutes. And be sure to dress conservatively, or you may be turned away from the convent.

Section. When finished proceed to the following stage.
Art Content
Leonardo da Vinci executed The Last Supper using a style which originated during the Renaissance
movement in 1400.
Da Vinci used a variety of media such as Tempera, Mastic, Pitch and Gesso when creating this piece.
Tempera painting, which was a method where pigments were mixed with egg yolk, was a favored
technique amongst Renaissance artists.
Da Vinci applied a method known as linear perspective to create this piece. This is where the relative
shape, size and position of objects are determined by drawn or imagined lines converging at a point on
the Horizon Line.
The Horizon Line or eye level refers to a physical/visual boundary where sky separates from land or
water.
By looking at the horizon line we can distinguish the focal point or main viewing object of the painting.

Stage 4
P.E. Activities
Instructions:
1. Review the important concepts that are related to physical education on the next slide.
2. After reviewing the important concepts turn to section 4 on the provided handout.
3. There is paper that is going to consists of three columns (Column A - Calories Column B- Foods Column C -
Carbohydrates). You need to match the correct food item with the correct number or percent of calories and proteins
drawing a line with a pencil. Check the answers when done. The answers are located on the paper that is under the
camera. After cheking place the paper in the same place under the camera.
4. After finishing the column activity each student will pick a paper that is going to be on a bag. The bag consists of different
types of positions that required balancing and having a good posture. The position you get is the position you will perform
during a video that you will be filming with your team members. This mean one video for group.
5. There is a camera that will allow you to record your entire group for 30 seconds while maintaining the position provided.
When finishing the video as an entire team watch it and observe how your posture and balancing skills are working.
6. Camera instructions- A- Camera will be plase ar a direction and should remain this way. B- Click on the ON at the upper
part of camera C- Click on the red button next to the screen of camera to start recording. When the 30 seconds are done
click again on the red button to stop recording. D- click on the play button that is in blue to watch your video. F- Click on
the off button again and place at the same place at the top of the paper with answers.
Physical Education Relation
Balancing- Back in the old days when artists wanted to do a painting, sometimes they had people be their model for the painting.
What was required of the model was to maintain their balance without moving so they could paint what the artist was desired to
do. Balancing is an important concept for physical education because a lot of sports like soccer, football, and basketball, etc.
required of players to have good balancing skills to be good at the sport or better than others.

Posture- A very good posture was very important for the model to make them more comfortable so they could maintain the
posture without getting hurt, and feel more comfortable by staying in the same position for a longer time. This concepts is also
very important to physical activities as you need to maintain a good posture for some sports like swimming, golf or other
physical activities. This will help you accomplish the movements you want to do, and with this you can avoid very serious
injuries that can be cause for not having the proper posture while doing physical activities.

Diet- In the painting you can appreciate some of the different items that were present during these event. This is considered
very important to physical activities for many reasons. In some sports a diet is required to maintain a certain level. They are
some foods that could contain to much calories and could affect you by provoking diseases. This diseases could affect your heart
and will not let you function properly to do physical activities.
