Skills Theme:

I am going to use Space Awareness to focus on directions and pathways.
Student will also learn about balance while walking in a pathway with different
directions.
18 Day Sequence Skill Theme
Day 1: State and explain rules and behavior expectations for the physical Day 10: Teacher will spread out a parachute on the ground and place
activities laminated paper arrows around the parachute in a clockwise pattern.

Day 7: Children will practice walking straight backwards in a path Day 16 Teacher will define a large area into a square shape with cones
created with cones with each side having a different skill. Children will practice walking
forward, backwards, zigzag, and curved.
Day 8: children will practice walking in a curved path of vinyl spots Day 17: Teacher will use chalk to draw a path obstacle course on a large

bumping into the cones vinyl spots and children will practice walking backwards, curved,
straight, left, and right.
Movement Wheel: Walking
The activities listed in the 18 day sequence skill theme are reflective of Locomotor skill, nonlocomotor skill
and space awareness on the movement wheel because
Space Awareness focuses on the body movement in relationship with the learning environment
It also teaches children to respect the personal space of others and their own
Space awareness also focuses on teaches children to move their body in different directions
Moving through a path with different directions is also part of Space awareness because children are
learning how to coordinate their body movements and improve their spatial awareness skills
Learning Environment
Cooperation Learning Environment
The reason I will establish a cooperative learning Environment in my classroom is
because I want my students to be able to encourage and help one another during
the physical education lessons.
Modeling acceptance and respect for all the students in the class
Creating small groups during physical activity lesson and encouraging children to
work together to achieve the learning objective
Planning activities that encourage children to share their ideas with other students
to teach that everyone in the classroom is important
I will utilize the movement wheel to add variations to the skill themes using the
movement concepts
I will also use the movement wheel to adapt the movement concepts to reflect the
skills that the children are currently working on and use the skill themes to add
challenges to the activity
The reason I would integrate movement and skill theme into my curriculum is
because I would be able to use physical activity to focus on all the important part of
a childs development such as physical, mental, social and emotional with these
activities.
In my dream job, I would make it a goal to include as much movement in the lesson as
possible to reduce the amount of time that children spent sitting down and to keep them
interested in the concepts.
For me this course, has been an eye opening experience and it has allowed me to realize
that physical education is a concept that my coworkers and I struggle with. I will make it
a goal for next school year to use the movement wheel to introduce my students to
movement concepts and skill themes to improve their physical skills. I will share the
information that I have learned with my coworkers and encourage them to join me in
planning physical activity lesson for the children and to work as a team when
implementing the lessons.
