STAAD or (STAAD.Pro) is a structural analysis and design
computer program originally developed by Research Engineers
International inYorba Linda, CA.
In late 2005, Research Engineer International was bought
by Bentley Systems
Bentley Systems, Incorporated, is a software company that
produces solutions for the design, construction and operation of
infrastructure.
An older version called Staad-III for windows is used by Iowa State
University for educational purposes for civil and structural
engineers
For CONTINUOUS BEAM
MOMENT DISTRIBUTION METHOD
For 3D frame
MATRIX DISPLACEMENT METHOD
Frame elements – Beam elements – 2 nodes
Finite elements – 1.) Plate – 3 or 4 nodes
2.) Solid – 4 to 8 nodes
Node becomes Joint
it has a number and xyz coordinates
Beam becomes Member
it has a number and nodes at its ends
Plate becomes Element
it has a number and node at its corners

ETABS gives very wide analysis options. You can do
• Multi Storey buildings
• Parking Garages
• Staggered Trusses
• Flat Slab, flat plate, waffle floor buildings
• Buildings with/without shear walls
• Steel, concrete, composite framing
• Sequential load analysis
• Pushover analysis
• Damper, base isolator analysis
• Rigid, Semi-Rigid diaphragms, Computation of Centre of Rigidity
• And much more… P-Delta, Non-Linear time history etc. etc.
