capacity.
Subgrade
Isa native material underneath a
constructed load, pavement or
railway track. It is also called
formation level.
Sub-base
In rigid pavement, the structural support
provided by the sub-base layer is
insignificant as the major portion of the
structural capacity is taken by the
concrete base.
Sub-base

This is a layer of gravel on top of

the subgrade.
